The Trip is Over

May 29, 2006 01:14

Hey guys, it's sunday and I have just returned from an awesome trip and showcase of America. I have discussed scenery with germans, picked up canadian hitchhikers, convinced the Mormons that I am Mike McGinnis from Dover and di'nt want any off thayre damn pamphlets, don't ya see? I have seen the most beautiful natural structures in America...and the most boring. here is a severly condensed list of the sights I've seen in rank of awesomeness from least to most.

10.Oklahoma (it's flat and you see the road come to a point in the distance)

9.Nebraska ( see above but add the smell of livestock feces)

8.Texas (not too shabby, dry and hot though)

7.Arizona (pretty sweet scenery but depressing when you get to the indian villages)

6.New Mexico (by far best highway scenery on the trip, as well as Mesa Verde. Also pretty sweet to see all the stuff in the Tony Hillerman books.)

5.Utah (almost as awesome scenery as New Mexico plus has numbers one and two conained in its borders)

4.Grand Canyon (Mystifying, elegant, but too damn big. Just doesn't seem real)

3.Mesa Verde Cliff Dwellings (Such rich history in these incredible buildings, and the drive to 10,000 ft elevation is fun too:-))

2.Zion Nat'l Park (If I could only describe the sheer power of seeing the towering cliffs and plateus of this park, teeming with life and beauty. Going through Zoin, you really get the sense that you are in Eden)

1.Bryce Canyon (Best campground on the trip, and the canyon itself it just incredible. The odd rock formations, the beatuiful stone and abundant activities of the park amke it #1)

Ahhhhh...now that duty is complete i will adjourn. Adieu to you all.
