The automatic sliding door retracted from the grasp of each other outpouring the seeping chilliness of the winter night, a stark contrast from the warmth shared by the newly-repaired heater. A tall man, with his black mops of unruly hair showered with remnants of snowflakes entered, eyes set on the cashier who had his ears plugged with his earphones and head nodding along to the beat scanning a customer’s products one by one. The cashier was a boy, on his college days working part-time to pay his rent and necessities. The boy was pale-skinned in comparison to the slightly roasted man. It was evident from the man’s face and the spark flaming in his eyes, the warmth of his adoration towards the boy had made mustered his courage and travelled through the night.

The man’s brown eyes never ceases from looking at the boy lazily doing his job. He walked to the shelves grabbing his necessities just like how he did it weeks before. The man outstretched his free hand rummaging his coat’s side pocket searching a circumspectly written love note which he had put lots of thoughts in using the right word and showering it with his admiration to the boy, before he shouted to the boy from the shelves.

“Excuse me, where is the dairy section?”The boy was annoyed and pause his I-pod, walking lazily huffing and puffing in infuriation, he tried to hide with a small smile.

The boy led him to the dairy section, and along the way there, the boy had continuously listening to his music, oblivious to the world and the man loving gazes.

“Here we are!”He announced a lot brighter than before, grabbing a carton of milk and putting it in the trolley. The boy was about to sprint away from the man when the man abruptly stopped him.

“Maybe you should guide me around the store.”The man suggested merrily and the boy side-looked him from that expressive and slanted eyes. The boy crossed his arms in disagreement and looked away from the man.

“I’ll buy you anything you want.”The man offered. And, flashes of rainbow coloured the boy’s grim face.

“Fine, but I’m only doing this because you promised!”He puffed once again and strutted with his heels loudly resonating in the empty store directing the way as the man trailed behind pushing his trolley with a pleased hum.

From a far, a pair of sceptical eyes staring at them from the reflection of his spectacles and the man’s face lit with flame.

“80000 won, Sir.”The cashier announced as he helps the man packing the grocery in a plastic bag.

The man handed the banknotes and slipping in the love note and adding it with the chocolate the younger had been eyeing during their little shopping.

The younger accepted it and glanced at him questioningly as the note was passed on his palm. And, the man nodded as if prompting the boy to open and read it.

Give me what I want. <3

The boy smiled with his eyes staring in wonder as if his love had been returned. Suddenly, a stout man appeared behind the boy peeking from the back and he snatched away the paper and tears it up with anger. The boy stood and tried to retrieve it, but the man had pressed the emergency button and the events were a blur sequence of haze. The boy was taken away with a tight grasp of the man forcefully and he was taken away by the cops and the last thing he saw was the young boy running out looking at him from a far clutching the chocolate bar he had given mournfully.

The next week, he went to the grocery shop, he peeked in searching for his favourite cashier but he was no longer there with his earphones and his pretty little head banging to the beat. His heart cells started to ache and the verge of end, he turned around preparing to leave, when a car with a loud whirring sound from its exhaust pulled in front of him. He was puzzled but when the passenger’s seat window was whisked down, the smile he admired so much was presented in front of him.

He opened the car’s door and he was placated with a kiss on his cheek and a strain of giggles followed later.

See I'm all about them words
Over numbers, unencumbered numbered words;
Hundreds of pages, pages, pages forwards.
More words than I had ever heard, and I feel so alive.
