I’m sitting here calmly, sipping hot tea from my brand new The Fray-mug.
I wasn’t so calm yesterday. Yesterday was so awesome. Where to begin…
Yesterday was the day: Stella (
ladygunblade) and I would go to The Fray in concert. We left at around 3.45PM to go to the central station in Rotterdam and went to Tilburg by train from there. Arrived in Tilburg, it was really easy to find the way to the 013 Popcentre, thanks to the many sings and simple main shopping roads.
We were really early; the doors would open at 6PM (I think..?) and we arrived there at about 4PM. There already was a small group of people sitting there, waiting, so we decided to join them.
After a few minutes I saw some guy walking there… And he had a bit of a beard, wore worn All Stars and a cool t-shirt, so I said, jokingly, “Hey, that looks like a lost bandmember.” It got a bit stranger when he stopped to go inside at the artist-entry. Hmm. At that point, everyone was already staring at him, when suddenly two girls went running up to him and we heard some say, “Oh, that’s Ben, the drummer.” LDG HKFCHJ SAY WHAT?! 8D
Naturally, everyone got really excited and more people followed after the two girls (who had just gotten a signature). Ben seemed patient. Stel and I were pondering… and eventually decided to go up to him, too, even if we were chickened out XD
Oh, it was worth it. Not only were we at hugging-distance, we also both got a signature. Thanks, Ben. You really made our day (and considering our day was already made because of the concert, that’s really something).
It started raining some time after. And hailing. In mid-October. Hail. WTF?! You can’t imagine how glad I was I brought an umbrella (which the wind fucked up a couple of times, but oh well).
A few moments later, the rain and hail stopped and a few moment later after that, someone came outside… Girls screaming… People running up to him with cameras… And then Stella pulling my arm, saying, “Oh my God, it’s Isaac!” NO FREAKING WAY.
Too bad there was some girl who wanted 84657456 signatures all over some fanbook she had. Stella got his signature, but I felt bad for him, plus the fact that the doors just opened and we wanted to stand as close to the stage as possible, so we rushed inside. I’m not too bummed I didn’t got a picture of signature, that would just be… selfish. Gosh. I already got so much! The fact that I got to see him so close… Wow. And Ben’s signature. And gosh. Wow. So cool.
Inside Isaac even sold some of his band merchandising, nawwwww.
We both bought a t-shirt (after Isaac left, sadly) and quickly ran to the room where they would play.
We stood so close. Second line, and the only people who were standing before us were just tiny, so we could see everything just fine. More than fine, actually. I could see the streaks of hands on the side of the piano. Ohh… <3
After waiting for what felt like forever, the supporting program started. Some guy called… I don’t know. He way from Norway and his name something like… Sandre LLchduhgfjk whatever. Edit: His name is Sondre Lerche, according to Stella. He wasn’t too bad. Pretty cool, actually.
But I was sooo… exhilarated when The Fray came up the stage. It was sososo awesome. I was so close! If the singer and one guitarist would look up, I could see into their eyes. But I couldn’t, because they both looked up like… once XD Awww, they were so shy.
They didn’t hold back though, even if they were shy. The one guitarist (there are two, one at the left and one at the right from Isaac, the singer, and I was standing right in front of one of them) was really one with his instrument and Isaac even climbed on the piano once! Haha, that was cool XD
And the other guitarist walked up to the one I was closest too once, too. It was just really cute to see them play together like that.
The singer and the guy from the warm-up even played Hundred together!
And gah… The whole concert was just so awesome. They were really good. The lighting was amazing, too.
It was over so soon. It felt like we waited for five hours and only enjoyed five minutes, but it was still so worth it.
We bought a mug afterwards and happily started out journey home. We made really cool pictures of ourselves in a photobooth, with the t-shirt and mug, but due to privacy reasons I’m not posting them :)
I almost have no pictures, because the battery of our camera was empty and I only realized I wanted to bring a camera last minute ^^’ I only got to make one picture with it and then it died, because the battery only got to load for like… five minutes. Yeah… The pictures I did make were made afterwards (home) or were made with my cell phone, so forgive me if the quality sucks.
And I almost got hold of a sheet of lyrics, damnit!
