Alphonse Mucha is one of my favorite artists of all time (one in a huge list including Robert Rauschenburg, Anselm Kiefer, Chuck Close, Dürer, and on and on and on...). I hope to get a high quality set of prints of The Moon and the Stars series one day for my home. Although he is strongly associated with the Art Nouveau movement (being one of the inaugurate and key artists) he did work in many other styles. In particular, he sought to separate himself from his early commercial works in the nouveau style, and lamented the possibility of being defined by it. Unfortunately for him, I still believe that he was. When I search his name online, the only images I find are of his nouveau works. In particular I would like to show you Spring Awakens the Earth and Christmas in America, but I can't seem to find them online.
Anyways, this was pretty pointless. I'm just here to say I adore Mucha's artistic style in all media. And what brought this on, do you ask? I pass this book store on the way to Ishibashi station that has a Mucha poster in their window. Every time I pass I want to go in and ask if the poster is for sale, but I doubt it is. I should go in there and get some Japanese novels either way.
