In response to Uli and the entire Mideast Dept's consistent FAIL, I have begun examining my Options...
And once more I return to a History Major. I need to talk to Courtney some more about things I might be... missing, but as far as I can tell by researching/DARSing, I need one breadth class, one seminar, and eight additional credits wherever. I have already completed the "Chronology: Modern Worlds" concentration. I could also take one additional class to complete the Middle East, North Africa, and Southern Asia concentration, but the only course I could take for that is "Empires of the East" around the Indian Ocean. I have an appointment with my adviser on Friday, but I sign up for classes on Thursday.
My initial plan was to take Intro to Judaism and an Israeli Lit course to complete my major, my thesis (6 credits), and a Jeremi Suri class just for funsies.
My current limbo plan is to sign up for the following:
Intro to Judaism (3 credits)
The Bible in the Middle Ages (3 credits)
History of American Foreign Policy (4 credits)
Israeli Literature in Translation (3 credits)
Past and Future American Global Strategy (3 credits, advanced seminar thing w/ Jeremi Suri) (if I'm allowed to sign up for it)
Now, if could squeeze in one more 4 credit history course, I would (theoretically) complete all requirements for both degrees... No thesis though, which is no fun. (though I think the advanced seminar thingy requires something thesis-esque?)
So, graduating in December is a little questionable again, but we'll see who gets back to me and when.
Of course, the double major thing is seeming appealing again, too...... especially if, mayhap... I could be a part time student the second semester and just work a ton-- i could work a whole lot if I was only taking one class and the rest of the credits were my thesis...
.... Just out of curiosity, is anyone we know graduating next summer? Ben is graduating (finaaaally) next winter... as is Ethan, I think...? And Mary and Courtney, y'all are staying on for quite a bit yet-- an extra year, was it?
Man I wish this stuff would just resolve itself. At least a little. ULIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIII!!!!! D< D< D<
PS--
Is there any reason why my original thesis idea wouldn't be.... history enough?
