I Only Had a Handful of Candy for Halloween...
I have a weakness for jellybeans. Particularly the red ones. But I don't like to eat them.
Red jellybeans remind me of my favorite food, cherry tomatoes. Bright red, slightly oval, shiny. When I see red jellybeans, sometimes I try them almost expecting that soft flesh will give way with a pop and my mouth will fill with juicy bitter-sweetness. I'm always disappointed. So in a way, jellybeans are simultaneously my least favorite candy.
Sometimes I wonder if some kind of metaphor for my desires could be made out of that.
But likely not.
