Once Upon A Time the World Was Round and You Could Go On It Around and Around

It’s raining. I like the rain. I’m listing to Billy Joel. I’ve coffee.

I’m reading Matthew Pearl’s The Dante Club. It was recommended to me. I don’t like it. But I don’t normally enjoy historical fiction. I just finished Karel and Josef Capek’s "Adam the Creator" (trans. Dora Round). It was good, an out of print work that takes look at the relationship between the creator and the created and the social construction of religion. The translation was rather simple and a bit harsh at times but, if one can find it, the piece is worth the time and energy it takes to read. I spent the beginning of the week reading more Tom Stoppard. I want to have his children.

I’ve had two days off this week so the house is clean. Clean, save last night’s bottle of wine that's still sitting on my desk. It’s not quite empty. A "Knife & Fork" cab, our house. Not as dry as I might like but it’s exceptionally smooth for a cab, relatively cheap, and a perfect match for the pizza we constructed last night. You should stop by Dale’s and have a glass. If I’m not there Scott will be there, he’s cool. Except he doesn’t like Garrison Keillor.
