Okay, I know I've already expressed my stress in here about housing for next year, but it's been on my mind again, because I'm going into Boston tomorrow to meet up with Alicia and look at different apartments. What that really translates to is having to get up at 3:30 in the morning to get to Portland to take a bus with Alicia into the city, so that we can be shown really-overpriced closets and I can stress about being tricked into living in some falling-down building in a sketchy neighborhood (okay, maybe I'm a tad bit paranoid...). Thankfully, Alicia knows a bit more about all this than I do, but I've been the one that's been trying to set up appointments, and everyone's really hard to pin down with for times, and just... ARGGHHH! I just want this all to be over with... and I hate the idea of us disposing of $2000+/month for housing, but I guess that's how this whole living-in-the-city thing works. It's not that I'm not excited about it all... I just want the stressful part to all be over with, so that I can go to sleep at night knowing that our allocated rent money will get us more than a carboard box in the middle of Cambridge Street.
Now that THAT'S taken care of... Today I went with mom, Joanne, and Nicole to look for wedding dresses/bridesmaid's dresses for Nicole! She's not getting married until next year, but we've all been having fun starting to plan out all the little details with her, and we figured it's never to early to start shopping around. However, instead of hitting up David's Bridal or a handful of little trendy wedding boutiques, we took a drive up to HUSSEY'S GENERAL STORE:
Nope, that sign isn't a joke... guns, beer, and wedding dresses, (among other things...). It's probably just about as redneck of a place as you'll get (You want a tub of nightcrawlers? They've got 'em. A big plastic spray-painted deer? Check.), but in a delightfully amusing way. And, even though it's a little awkward to say you got your wedding gown from a place called "Hussey's General Store," they actually have a REALLY NICE section of the store with brand-new, gorgeous dresses, and all sorts of wedding accessories that you can either buy there or specialty-order. The whole concept of the place still amuses me though. :)
We got lunch in town, and then I came home to make myself sick by scrolling through craigslist postings all afternoon. Good times.
Oh, and finally, stolen from
pam-casso, a little
