RE: the accident - I'll quote from the story and then explain.
[1] "No one knew that new kid Jiho would panic and lose control of the simulation unit and crash into him."
[2] "Everyone else who wanted to take Jiho down a few notches was just as responsible."
[3] "But Chilhyun-hyung told me to watch over Jiho. He heard the wrong instructions from my mouth. If I hadn't agreed to trick him, if I hadn't..." Minho's expression contorts. "Jinki doesn't know I set up the whole thing and now this."
so basically Minho's trainer (Chilhyun) had Minho tutor/look out for a new kid (Jiho) [3], but Minho and the other students didn't like Jiho's attitude so they conspired together to teach him a lesson [2]. the plan was to have Minho give him the wrong instructions [3] so he would mess up while piloting the simulation unit [1]. they expected a momentary scare that'd shake Jiho up (so he would stop being so full of himself) but instead he really truly panicked and ended up causing a big accident where he crashed into Jinki [1]. and that's how Jinki got hurt.
turning Jinki into a ghost by having him unmarked is one step further, another aspect of the matter. I'll leave that till after you finish the story. :)
