Sixty-two miles; Jinki/Taemin; PG-13
note: Meant to mostly write this as the way Taemin experiences things; somehow moved away from that more than I expected in this portion of the story.

Faded. )
I have no idea how many times I've used those words, but definitely often enough for me to feel like I've been repeating them too much! At least I'm not setting off my vocab proximity alarm too often. (I have this thing against using the same word/words of the same root twice in close proximity without intending to repeat for effect... yes, I'm kinda obsessive like that. :x)
LOL wait till you get to uni and take more advanced classes. You get into situations where the prof actually CAN'T answer/explain certain queries even if he/she wanted to. As you move away from well-established, basic, textbook knowledge and towards areas of active research, there are more and more open questions. You'll come across multiple models under consideration for the same process, 'some think' instead of 'we know', ideas that may be disproven in a year's time etc. Fun stuff.
But wouldn't you get distracted by your friends? At least that's what happens to me. We always end up chatting and going off on tangents about completely irrelevant topics...lol distractions are unavoidable in life. And that sounds like a busy break. D: What do you mean by the last time you're doing chem though?
The only predictable thing about my writing is that I'm good at making things longer than what they're supposed to be... Case in point, this Ontae story. I listed it under oneshot/multishot because that was what it was meant to be, but now it's unfinished and yet longer than the two chaptered stories that I've completed to date. =_= It takes me a while to get to the point, I guess. Since you're able to write short stories (I can't stick to a few thousand words for some reason), how do you find yourself pacing your stories?

Both are correct, actually. And a thesaurus is a double-edged sword. On the one hand, you diversify your vocabulary and sound more sophisticated. On the other, you run the risk of misusing words and/or sounding pretentious. ...although it's awesomely useful when you know the word but just somehow can't recall it. LOL rapping xD The only literary devices that I actively employ outside of English class are probably metaphors/similes. Personification too, sometimes. I never intentionally alliterate because more often than not it sounds funny to me. :x
Oh it's not only pick a side to prove it -- at least you know what direction/opinion you're going in/for in that case. And at least, to a certain degree, you can believe the evidence that you gather. This is a situation where knowledge is so incomplete that everyone is dealing with hypotheses and flawed experiments and resource/technological limitations and selectively presented data and caveats even in the best papers.
LOL I have had debates where we were assigned pro/con arbitrarily. But after the initially difficulty of building an argument in which I don't believe, I feel that speaking for the other side makes it easier during rebuttal and stuff. Because you pretty much know how the other side thinks.
If you don't take physics in IB, doesn't it mean you'll have to take it in uni?

I've always done okay at dissecting pieces of writing -- that's why I could enjoy English class without being lost. But honestly, I think I'm very bad at pinpointing style, writing a certain way for a certain effect, stuff like that. I have my own standards for what I consider good writing, yes, but between good pieces of writing, I'm rarely ever conscious of the stylistic differences...
I've heard of that book, though I haven't read it before. Ah, you make me want to go pick up novels again! Fanfic is the only fiction I get to lay eyes on these days.
Debates were one of my favorite parts of high school! (Especially the 'finding holes in the other side's logic' part; gotta love rebuttals.) Sometimes people can get really fired up about things though. xD; (What's the council? Do you guys keep the peace?) And it's amazing how the same idea conveyed in different words and the same words spoken by different people can sound so different.
Do you dislike physics? Or is it just not your forte? For me, physics and math have always been a little too pure. That and the fact that doing practice problems are a must for physics and math exams. The best thing with choosing career paths is to talk to people who are in that line of work and, if possible, try it out/volunteer. I feel like a lot of jobs are different from how we imagine them. And lol pilot! As in commercial aircraft pilot? I've always felt that take-offs and turns (in the air) are so cool. Especially turns...and especially in a helicopter......

Yeah, even longfics are often short compared to your average novel. I can no longer fathom how I got through hundreds of pages in a single sitting (or two) or how I could have possibly been happy when I got my hands on those nice thick book. How I could have possibly liked the weight and feel of it, liked sitting down and reading till my eyes protested. But gotta admit, reading really helped the size of my non-jargon vocabulary, which isn't really growing anymore. T__T Now I'm just full of jargon.
Did your teacher sit off to the side and let you guys taken control of things? Or was he/she the judge? I remember doing mock court with a student teacher once and she made herself the judge, but given how well some students obeyed her occasional cries of 'order! order!', they probably would have been guilty of contempt in real life lol
Ah, guess you're more of a bio/chem person than a physics/math person? In high school physics, one of our teachers taught and assigned homework right out of the book in a very predictable manner. So as he did his thing on the blackboard, my friend and I just glanced over the new concepts/equations and did homework. 8) I haven't done environmental chem but I've done toxicology and actually I don't feel too, too bad. Guess that comes out of feeling better informed as opposed to actually feeling better. xD;;
LOL oh hi, you're a pilot? /target locked on
