The Word is- No more Weir

Wow..... I really love being right. And it's even better when it's something I wanted to be right about!

The newest issue of Stargate Mag came out today and low and behold Robert Cooper lets slip that as much as some Weir fans want her, she's just not going to be around anymore. No word on when this is to happen, but those of us who have been following the latest spoilers closely think she won't survive past about the third or fourth episode.

Now those of you familiar with my on-going dislike of this character or to be more accurate dislike of the way this character was written will know that I'm way more than happy over this piece of news. Weir has been the third leg on this two legged show since the end of season one. And when TPTB at SGA and Skiffy got the focus data they needed to back up what they already knew, Weir got the axe.

Unfortunately for Torri, the actress who plays Weir, Stargate is about a four member team that travel through the gate to other planets and have adventures. There really isn't a fulltime place for the one who gets stuck minding the home fires. TPTB tried to adjust the formula to include that, but are now thankfully conceding that it can't be done.

I really do feel sorry for all the folks who love this character, I'd feel terrible if it were Teyla or Ronon or John, but I gotta say, the future of SGA looks brighter to me now than it has in a long time.

Not to mention the fact that with no Weir in the picture, the shrill ill-informed side of the fandom will finally have to pipe down. And accept what many of us have said for three years now; there never was a romantic tie between Sheppard and Weir and now there never will be.
