I was reading through my old journal and saw that I had viewed a photography exhibit last year in Chicago which included several photographs by Irving Penn from Cuzco, Peru. He had traveled there on a whim for a week, set up a studio, and photographed the local people.
"Cuzco Children," 1948 just sold at Christie's for several hundred thousand.
If I truly want to stick to my goal of art school, I need to keep an art journal, and record more about the various exhibits I visit, the artists, what I love, etc. I need to gather some favorite artists, get back into the art scene in my own small way, pay more attention. Irving Penn is certainly a favorite, that man has great aesthetics.
