I've been playing through Assassin's Creed on the DS. It's pretty entertaining so far- reminds me very much of the games I used to play; a less intense, single-player mix between Baldur's Gate and Thief. Only on a much smaller scale. I'd be tempted to play the original, if only I owned the right consule.
Anyhow, there are some things that I would change about it, but otherwise it's been pretty entertaining. The moral of the story has been that if I had to be an assassin, I would be dead in about ten seconds... sometimes less. I spend more time falling off roofs than anything else. I've always been a bit of a kamikaze gamer- my playing style is to chose a faster, weaker class and charge- so one of the fun things I have found with this game is ignoring their arrows, ignoring their hints and the stupid little tricksy paths you're supposed to take, jump off of the roofs onto people's heads and hack everything in sight. I don't die as quickly, keeps things a little more entertaining then trying to land that darned jump again, and also confuses the directional arrow, which gets kind of old.
Also? The plot makes me laugh. You spend all of this time skulking on roofs and slinking through sewers, only to arrive at your place of interest on an elevator, in full view of all of the guards and the person you're trying to kill. So you kill them all anyway, play in the rafters for a bit, and go back down to save the guy they were torturing.
"Don't worry, I'm an assassin," you tell him.
"How do I know?"
There is a pause. "You're right, you can't."
You know. If the slinking around and slitting people's throats wasn't enough to give it away, but some people just can't be satisfied.
In other geeky things, my coworker was asking me about the Wolverine movie- interesting, because I know absolutely nothing about it. We were discussing possible cameos & crossovers (as he knows nothing about the comics) and it ended with me pulling the ultimate books off of the shelves and leafing through til we found our answers. He just laughed at me. But god, it made me realise just how long it's been since I've been a true geek (although it apparently doesn't take much to get me going anymore.) So I looked it up- and aaah it's going to have Gambit in it! dang it, now I'm excited.

Sewing's going well, I have been spending most of time time either doing that, working, or reading. Work frequently makes me want to stab people's eyeballs out, so not a whole lot has been happening outside of it... Just getting ready for pennsic. (less than a week!) On the upside, I actually made dinner tonight- yummy broccoli cheddar soup. And we have year-old wedding cake in our fridge, which is much more appetizing then it sounds.

Sometimes, I wish you could spend a week stocking up on sleep and then spend the next one burning it off. I'm getting awfully tired of this waking up business.
