I'm not much for a Nate/Sterling relationship (really don't see it) but there simply isn't enough Sterling.

Agreed. Sterling was one of my favourite characters from season one (even though he was only in like four episodes). I just can't think of (personally) any other reason to write for him, because besides being a dedicated(/obsessive) hardass he really doesn't have a back story. I lack teh creatives. :(
