I'm very Distracted by conflicting emotions about this:
http://www.80stees.com/products/Sexy-Teenage-Mutant-Ninja-Turtles-Donatello-Costume.asp I think I actually like it!
Even though I hate this:
She has shell chest bumps for boobs.
How creepy is that!?
And no, that's not girl Leonardo...
that's Venus de Milo.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Venus_%28Teenage_Mutant_Ninja_Turtles%29 It's not that I'm opposed to girl ninja turtles... but:
a) The long-lost sibling story is really trite
b) She looks REALLY creepy!
c) Why does she even have boobs?
d) Seriously! Aren't they amphibians?
e) The guy turtles are named after famous Italian painters/sculptors, but she's named after a famous Greek sculpture made by nobody-knows-who. Why didn't they just name her after Artemisia Gentileschi? Sure, her era is after the other guys, but wouldn't that also fit with them introducing her AFTER the main turtle storyline was already prominent? Also, Venus can't have a cool nickname like Leo, Donny, Raph, or Mikey! But Artemisia can be like... "Arti" or something... I don't know. But it definitely has more potential than "Venus"
f) Seriously...? Did her shell have boobs on it when she was a baby mutant turtle as well? Why the boobs?
(ok, maybe I am opposed to girl ninja turtles...)
Moral of the story:
- Don't force characters into your plot just to get gender diversity
- If you choose to force characters into your plot to get gender diversity, and these characters are not human, don't make them creepily overly sexualized, especially if that sexualization is beyond the bounds of their species.
- Give your characters better names! Research on Google is not hard to do.
- Human girl boobs are far more attractive than amphibian mutant turtle boobs.
