My first ambulance ride...

Dec 01, 2006 18:56

It has been some week.
On Tuesday night I ended up in the hospital from an allergic reaction I had to a vaccine.

I had to go after work for some vaccinations for my business trip to India in January. They give you two needles with about 5 vaccines in each needles. Everything was fine. My co worker Cathal and I decided to go to the movies, and on coming out I started getting tunnel vision and needed to sit down. The next thing I remember, I'm sprawled out on the stairs in front of the theatre and Cathal is holding me and talking but I can't really see straight. He yelled to call an ambulance, apparently I had been out for a minute or so. I also started being sick.
So by the time the ambulance came I thought I was okay and tried to walk away but my legs gave out from under me and Cathal and the paramedic insisted I get in the ambulance. Once I got to the hospital they tested me or did some stuf finvolving blood pressure and stuff with my fingers but I was pretty out of it and Cathal took care of any participation needed on my part.
We stayed until 2am or so, Cathal had called my two roommates who also came down and all three sat with me. Seriously, nicest bunch of people in this country. I'm so glad they were there with me. Once at home the girls refused to let me sleep alone, so they tucked me in on the couch and brought in the inflatable bed and slept beside me that night. I can't believe how lucky I am to have met some of the poeple that I have met here.

I've taken the last three days off work just trying to recuperate. I've been tired but am definitely okay. Tomorrow night is my work's christmas party and I want to go. Then on Monday we head to Heidelberg for a week-long business trip. COming home from that I'll have another flurry of Christmas parties to go to before I return to Canada for two weeks!!

FYI: Dates back in Canada: DEC 22 - JAN 3. I WANT TO SEE YOU ALL!!!!!!

Love Shona xo
