“Maybe you should go with him” Mother suggested with a serious face.
What? Me? Move to Japan?
At first, I was frightened, but a minute later, I thought it over. Maybe my mother was right. I should go with dad to Japan. I decided my mother was right and that I should go with my dad to Japan. I was already 20, but i still didn’t know what i wanted to do with my life. I didn’t know if i wanted to go to a university or work. But I was sure if i stayed here, I wouldn’t go very far...
“Maybe yes...” I mumbled as an answer.
Dad often went to Japan since he worked for a car company there. My dad, Hiroto Taguchi, was raised in Japan. He then came to Hungary because of work. He had met mom there, but that was another story. When I was born, my parents moved to Hungary for good and all, thus I was completely hungarian. My poor dad always tried to teach me japanese, but he failed. So he sent me to a language school to learn a little japanese.
When I was a child, I hated the fact that I was different from the other kids. My classmates always bullied me and I cried a lot at that time.
But as I grew up, I realized that just my appearance was different and I was a human too, just like my classmates. Fortunately, in high school there was no problems and I had a lot of friends. Moreover, I got into the school's dance class. There weren’t any days without dancing that time. Maybe I was one of the best dancers. We won a lot of competitions, but when I graduated I had to leave the dance class.
“Then let's go!” Dad said with his japanese accent and picked up two pieces of luggage. I hugged mom and promised that I would call right after the plane had arrived. The taxi stopped at the gate so we got in and departed. I waved at mother inside the car and the house faded away as we left the street.
In after a little while we were on the plane and fortunately, I slept all through the journey. I had been to Japan three or four times already, but now it was different. I still didn't know how much time I would spend there or what I was actually going to do there. That scared me...
When we arrived, dad got our luggage. It was strange. At first, I couldn't understand a world in japanese.
"Where are we going to?" I looked up to dad.
"Now we wait for someone. After he arrives, we go to the apartment."
"Someone? Who do you mean?" I asked like a curious kid.
"My cousin, he's my brother's son. You still haven't met him" Dad explained "He lives here in Tokyo and he will take care of you while I'm working."
"Take care? Why? I'm ok alone too" I said furiously.
"At home, yes. But it's Tokyo. If you don't pay attention for a second, you could get lost." dad laughed, and he was probably right. He knew it better than me.
"Is your cousin always so late?" I looked up to dad while sitting on one of my bags after ten minutes waiting.
"I don't know,” he answered with a calm voice, "but I'm sure he has a good reason for that."
But the never before seen relative just didn't want to come. Then after a half hour, my dad shouted out:
"Junno-kun!" He recognized the boy from far, and hurried toward him. I also looked up and prepared for the greeting. In my mind, I rapidly rattled down the japanese phrases I remembered from the class. Then my dad came together with my stranger cousin.
"Akira, this is Junnosuke Taguchi, my brother's son."
"Iriguchi, deguchi, Taguchi desu~~!" - the boy said with a smile and danced a bit, but I didn't understand what it was.
"Baka!" the word just slipped out of my mouth, but i quickly hid my face with one hand. I usually used the phrase with my friends, so it became a bad habit to say "Baka" for everything.
"Akira!" Dad looked at me with a cutting glance.
"Nice to meet you." the boy bowed.
"Nice to meet you too!" I said and bowed too.
"Hiro-sama, the cab is over there. I’ll help you with the luggages." Junnosuke said and took the luggages from my hands. Fortunately, these were just simple japanese sentences, so I still understood everything. When we got into the taxi, my dad started to ask Junnosuke about everything. Family, school, band, concerts. Wait! Band? Concerts? What's going on here?
"Sorry, but what band?" I cutted their words.
"Hiro- sama, didn't you tell her?" the boy looked at dad in surprise.
"I forgot... " Dad said rubbing his nape with an awkward smile.
"I don't know whether you know KAT-TUN?" Junnosuke asked.
"KAT-TUN? Sorry, no." It was a bit hard to understand what he says.
"A six-member boyband. We dance, sing and everything." he explained, but i couldn't get what he had to do with it."I'm one of these six." He made it more clear and smiled pleasantly "Here in Japan, we are like... idols" Junno searched for the right word. I was shocked.
"Are you famous?" I asked suddenly.
"Akira!" Dad warned me again not to be impolite.
"Let me see... yeah, quite famous" Junno laughed emberassed.
Then dad and my cousin started a chaotic talk. I understood nothing. Meanwhile, I tried to process the new information. Why didn’t dad just tell me Junnosuke was in a band if they are that famous? I wonder what is it like to have an idol relative?
Fortunately we arrived to the apartment after a while. Junnosuke helped with the luggage, then we went up to the the eleventh floor. Our apartment was in Shibuya, so the neighborhood was really crowded.
"Junno will show you the city later." Hiroto responded in japanese.
"What about speaking in hungarian?" I asked, but he just shook his head.
"I'm afraid I must go right now." dad said after we put down the luggage.
"Work? Right now?" I asked in an amused tone.
"Unfortunately, yes. Junno-kun, can you show the neighborhood to Akira?" Dad faced to Junnosuke, who nodded.
"No problem" He added. I didn't have time to react, so I just gazed after Hiroto.
"Your dad is really busy with work." Junnosuke mumbled.
"Pardon?" I asked, 'cause I couldn't understand it properly.
"Your dad has a lot of work," he repeated, "so can we go?" He asked suddenly and I nodded. I didn't feel like walking around the city. I actually was too exhausted for anything else but sleeping. Moreover, I still didn't know that guy, so I abstaied myself from that new situation.
Leaving the house, Junnosuke suggested to go to the nerby café, where we could talk. We walked in silence for some minutes. I didn't know what to say or I just didn't know the right words in japanese.
"Have you ever been here before?" My cousin cut the silence.
"Yes, three times. In my childhood" I answered, trying to use simple phrases.
"It's strange, that your dad never talked about me." Junnosuke wondered.
"Maybe, he meant it as a surprise" I smiled, and the boy agreed.
"Nee~ here's the café I mentioned. What do you want to drink? I’ll pay" the guy asked and we sat down.
After we ordered some coffee, we started to talk. Junnosuke was really hyper, which annoyed me a bit...
"Aren’t you afraid they will recognize you?" I asked curiously as I remembered that he was an idol here.
"Oh my god, thanks for you mentioning that." my cousin said, slapping his forehead, and took out a baseball cap as well as sunglasses from his bag to put them on. He looked so satisfied.
"So, does it work?" I asked.
"Sometimes." the boy wondered "But on those, who really want to recognize me, it has no effect. You know, the fanatics." He whispered and closed the gap between us.
"I see... " I said with an awkward face "Junnosuke!" I started.
"Oh, just call me Junno, please. Or Taguchi... but no. You are Taguchi too, so Junno is ok." he talked to himself and made weird faces.
"Then... Junno. Can you say something about that band?" I asked shyly.
"Of course!" he started keenly "In Japan, there's a agency, called Johnny's Entertainment. I was 16 when I applied. But you know what? Here's a DVD, watch it please. I hope you will like it!"
"Did you prepare this?" I chuckled, looking at the DVD in Junno's bag.
"Oh, you mean the DVD?" Junno chuckled as well "No, I always have some with me" he laughed "In that case, if I meet a potential fan."
"I see. That would be me, right?"
"Right now, yeah!" he smiled "But look, I have another disk, too" he said while seaching in his bag. Junno put another CD on the table, with a group picture on the cover.
"So this is KAT-TUN?" i mumbled in hungarian.
"Ee?" Junno asked, but I just shook my head.
"I'm sorry, but I hever heard about you." I faced the boy.
"Don't worry, maybe this is the right time." he smirked, and his eyes formed a thin line.
I just starred at the cover for some minute. There were six guys standing side by side, before a pink background, with a big, gold sign above which said: "One Drop"
"Why do you look glum?" I looked up to the guy, and back to the picture.
"Hey, you never had a bad day?" He laughed out loudly.
"Umm, Junno, I think they will recognize you, if we are that loud" I looked around, but it was already late.
"Aww..." the guy seemed worried when he looked out of the big window and tried to cover his face with the baseball cap "It is becoming scarce..." he mumbled. At first I didn't know why he said that, but then I recognized the screaming girls in front of the window. I think there were twenty, but in the next minute the number increased and I was shocked.
"Better, if you go out." I suggested to Junno, who went out and greeted the girls. For those, who stood in the first line, he gave some sign, waved, then hurried back to the café and suggested to leave.
"I'm so sorry" he said on the way to home.
"I envy you, you already know what you want to do in life"
"Why? You don't?"
"Unfortunately, no" I mumbled "That's why I came here"
"Well, I can help you, if you want. Just ask me" a smile formed on his face, and I nodded.
"What about some shopping?" Junno asked me suddenly. I was tired enough, but as I saw Junno's eager face, I couldn't say no.
"Why not?" I answered.
It was quite late when dad called and asked me to come home.
"Junno-kun, please come again if you are free" Hiroto asked my cousin when we got home. "Akira really needs a guide."
"Of course!" the boy waved from the elevator.
