No, this is good. This is very good. Kinda out of left field with the time travel, genderswap, soul shenanigans storyline chugging along, then suddenly KNOTTING (which, hello bulletproof kink, yes please), but your author's note indicates that the inspiration took you by surprise, as well. Really, this fic has everything I like; just throw it all in!

I KNOW RIGHT? I was just going la-la-la metaphysics... and the BAM! Apparently the Jotun species in this fic'verse knot. And I was all like "... you couldn't have waited? I had other shit I wanted to get done first. Your sexy times are not my priority." Then CHAOS was all like "my sexy times are always your priority, mortal wench!"
