(In which Sunstorm meets Starscream and Slipstream.)
Six Skyborn Seekers walked through the door, and the room which had seemed vast and echoing only moments before now felt crowded.
Sunstorm’s pacing jerked to a stop, the gold Seeker’s optics blown wide and bright as his apprehensive fretting was replaced with a concern that was a bit more immediate.
"Winglords." Cardinal inclined both helm and doorwings in a show of respect and fealty. The other Seekers in the room were quick to copy his actions.
All of them, but for one.
"Priest Cardinal." Lord Thundercracker’s voice came slowly, as he glanced only briefly at the elder Seeker before his accusing gaze riveted on Jetfire. Blackout shifted to get between the angry Winglord and a stubborn looking Air Commander before he could think better of the action. Lord Thundercracker looked briefly startled, and then his mien turned thoughtful as he flicked his gaze from Jetfire to Blackout and back.
"Jetfire. Good to see you in one piece." Commander Overcast’s quiet voice was clear in the strained hush.
"Hey, Overcast." Energies warm and rich with affection, Jetfire grinned at his elder brother. "Right back atcha, bro."
Blackout let out a startled squawk as Jetfire yanked him backwards, and Barricade had to double-time it to avoid being batted aside as Lord Starscream and Commander Slipstream got over their shock and moved.
Sunstorm had not bowed, and he failed to make any sign of doing so even as Starscream and Slipstream came to a halt a wingspan away. Gold and cream wings trembled as two pairs of red optics examined this familiar stranger, this bastard-born Seeker who claimed to belong with them, to be of their flock. Orange optics had locked onto Starscream alone at first, the look in them starving and desperate. Slipstream hissed, a slow venting of undirected rage, and Sunstorm jerked his head around, staring at the teal and violet femme with something that was close to wonder, something close to reverence.
As the silence drew out, Sunstorm’s trembling grew worse. The gold Seeker seemed to shrink, collapsing in on himself as he huddled back against the ornately decorated wall.
Jetfire made a muffled noise of worry, and would have gone to Sunstorm's side, only to find his way blocked by an unusually serious Lord Skywarp. Overcast laid a hand on his younger brother’s arm and shook his head in negation. Barricade glanced at Cardinal, and seeing that the older Flightless was watching everything with a faint smile, just grunted and leaned against the pillar at his back. Barricade was sticking close to Jetfire in case he needed to intercede, but he was no longer on a hair-trigger. Blackout shifted uneasily, glaring openly at Skywarp without shame and tugging Jetfire away from Overcast with a quick yank. Thundercracker blinked at the display, briefly distracted from the showdown going on across the room by the antics happening right next to him. Airwave appeared to have fallen asleep next to the door.
"So." Starscream’s voice was the barest whisper, but it yanked the attention of the rest of the room’s occupants back around to the three Skyborn.
"So." Slipstream’s rasp was a noncommittal echo of her younger brother.
Slowly, Sunstorm straightened up. Stilling the shaking of his wings by sheer force of will, he looked to Starscream, to Slipstream, and without a single word reached out his hands. A silent offer, undemanding and sincere and hopeful. Innocent in a way the Winglord and his sister had not been in vorns.
Sunstorm shuttered his optics as the silence stretched, unable to bear witness to them turning him away. Unable to watch as they rejected him.
Until they took his hands.
Amber optics went wide and bright and joyful as a fledgling taking flight for the first time.
"I am Sunstorm." The gold Seeker told his new flock - told his true-born siblings - in a voice too full of emotion to name them all.
"Welcome home, Sunstorm." Slipstream managed to speak first, her claws tight around Sunstorm’s.
"Welcome home, brother." Starscream spoke in turn, reaching out with his free hand to touch Sunstorm’s cheek, crimson optics bright with a savage joy. "Welcome home, Sunstorm."
"Yes." Sunstorm moved then, or maybe he was pulled forward, and they tangled together in a knot of limbs and wings and the unheard melody of a flock bond healing from loss, singing strong and solid and sure through their energy fields. Sunstorm’s voice broke on a sob, crackling static as he collapsed into his sibling’s outstretched arms. "I am home… brother, sister, I have come home!"
The rest of the Seekers in the room surged forward, pulled in by the weight of their respective trine-mate’s emotions. There was wild laughter and a war whoop of pure relief, a release of tension as eleven Seekers celebrated the finding of family, the reunion of a scattered flock.
Crashing into Sunstorm’s back and throwing his arms around the gold Seeker, Jetfire grinned at Starscream and saw his best friend smile back at him without reservations for the first time since they had reached maturity. Looking up at all of the happy chaos around him, Sunstorm laughed and opened his arms wide as he screamed his victory to the planet and populace and Primus below himself. "I am finally home!"

Hello all, I have returned! Well, to the internets at least. And I come bearing the oft requested first meeting of the Double-S siblings. XP As I've finally managed to move far enough away from my mother that I'm able to indulge my own pass times, I've done quite a bit of writing in the interim while I was AWOL. So be warned that I have a metric tonne of fic written down that I am in the process of editing.
As for new stuff, my NineRingsVerse!Cliffjumper muse is currently wreaking havoc in the Shattered Glass dimension. I probably don't need to point out the more-massive-than-canon differences and existential dissonance our favorite little red gun-fanatic is currently running into faceplate-first.
Yes, I'm living in an apartment all of my own as of this summer. And working three jobs. It's taken a bit to get settled which is why I've been invisible since my birthday. I hope everyone else had a good year!

HERE THERE BE DRAGONS!! Yo, everyone. I'm looking for Coppers, Blue Opal, Shimmerscale, and any of the previous year Valentines when they start to breed. Standard reward of a fic update of your choice. Love ya'll! (Also, please be aware that you need to notify me of the trade particulars by PM as LJ tends to eat the comments with outside links in them.)
