So, hey! Things going on with me.
(1) I saw Inside Out and freaking loved, loved, loved it. Happy to go see again with anyone at any time. Will watch it with your kids. Will be on the lookout for a 3X t-shirt. I'm a therapist and frequently work with children; this film gives me so much vocabulary. Did notice the things people are critical about. Loved it too much to care. Please do not harsh my squee.
(2) I also seem to be having a minor Batman renaissance? Or at least, I spent the weekend reminiscing over turn-of-the-millenium Bruce/Dick fic. I think I would like to check in on the DC universe, see how they're doing, but I have no idea where to start. The only thing I know for sure is they've retconned the crap out of the universe at least twice since I stopped following. If anyone is willing to be my Virgil through this purgatorial nightmare, I would appreciate it!!
(3) Things I am watching: Person of Interest (if we can get hold of Season 4), Orphan Black. Waiting for Agent Carter to come back. Fell off the boat with Arrow/Flash and could probably get back on. Ditto Agents of Shield. My internet connection at home is kind of crappy, though, so I have mainly been watching TV at
kass's. Would really like a space opera to watch... hmmm. I never have seen Farscape, maybe I'll see if I can get hold of it somewhere. Probably would help if I set up my TV and apparatus.
(4) So many books to read. I have been holding onto Uprooted by Naomi Novik for a special present, but maybe I should just read it. I hoard books sometimes, because after I read them I can't read them again. No, it doesn't make sense, but I live in my head and I have to work with what I've got.
(5) Fannish wittering is because job is freaking me out.
I like my job, but my union is in final negotiations to keep from going on strike next week. I'm not striking because I'm a first responder, and we do not have the managerial resources to keep the ER going without somebody being a scab. It might as well be me, because I have no other source of income. (And my income right now is so low that my union is on strike, so: Catch-22.) I HATE this. I have never in my life thought I would cross a picket line, but I don't want some sad kid in a hoodie killing themselves because nobody was there when they were in crisis. This is making me actually nuts, so maybe I should just check into the next-nearest hospital before my benefits get cut.
(6) I like the new place! But water pressure and internet speed are both kind of iffy. Landlord's working on the water, at least. My computer may also be part of the internet problem, as it's getting on in years. Alas. But the delay is reduced with the phone, and I don't mind reading off of it, so I'm good for now.
(7) Huge family reunion in three weeks with my niece getting married and half of my family, including me, cramming into my sister's house. Should be a hootenanny. I have planned extensive padding on both sides of the trip so I can experience an actual vacation.
(8) How do you get a cigarette smell out of furniture? Vinegar? The adorable new desk I found at a tag sale reeks of stale cigarettes.
