I know we're all probably tired of hearing about Brett Favre, but I have something interesting to add: The Madden Cover Curse.
For those of you who are not familiar with it, it's exactly as it sounds. Anyone who is put on the cover of the Madden NFL game ends up having a terrible season afterwords or an injury. LaDainian Tomlinson even turned down being on the cover, supposedly due to contract reasons, but only after fans created saveltfrommadden.com.
Well, Madden thought that Brett Favre would end the "curse." He was retiring, it was the 20th anniversary edition of the game, he left with a bang... who else would be more appropriate to stick on the cover of the game?
Apparently, the Madden curse is CLEARLY too strong. Even Brett Favre cannot fight it.
Yes, this theory DOES make me feel better, thankyouverymuch.Somehow, it makes the entire thing not nearly as confusing and completely nuts.
OK, fine, it still is, but I'm not ready to let go for Favre yet. I grew up with the Packers. My fondest memories of footbal come from Favre and Mike Holmgren. Holmgren now coaches the Seahawks, and I live in Seattle, so I'm more than happy to play the "12th Man." But Favre didn't leave the Packers for a better opportunity. He left them for the Jets (Ok, so he didn't leave them, he was sold to the Jets... but his bad).
::Shakes fist:: Oh you Madden Curse!
