Living in California for the majority of my life, I could ALWAYS smell the rain coming. The metallic smell that filled the air, causing me to get giddy yet feel peaceful at the same time. Fabulous.
Now, living in Seattle, I've stopped smelling the rain. Or at least stopped paying attention to what it smells like. Instead, on this beautiful beautiful day, with all my windows open and the sun in pouring in all over the apartment, I smell the warm, earthy scent of sunshine.
It's a familiar smell. The smell of sun-soaked linens. It smells like grassy picnics. I find myself bracing for the smell of sunscreen and the smell of chlorine at the pool. I'm yearning for the smoky, mouth watering smell of a bbq.
I woke up to the sounds of birds chirping. The breeze makes the trees look like their dancing in the sun. A contrast to the dark, gloomy days where the trees struggle against the wind.
It's an exciting time.
I guess I will miss it when it's all over by next week.
