after while...

I know I haven't posted anything in way too long.... Winter wasn't an easy time for me. In September, we moved back into the house we got married in--the big yellow house--and I thought things were going to be fine. Thanksgiving weekend, the for sale sign went up... and in February, the owner informed us that the house had sold and that the new owners did not want tenants, so we were obliged to move out.

We found an apartment almost identical to the one that Nikolena and I lived in when we met Alex. It's actually owned by the same person as our old apartment--the only difference is that this one has washer/dryer connections. I could NOT go through the laundrymat thing again. Got to have a washer and dryer. So we moved last weekend. Mostly. There are still a few things to be gotten from the other house, but we will get those this weekend. We have to be fully vacated by March 15.

I am so sad to leave the house I loved...twice now.

On the up side, the apartment is kind of pretty...has white tile floors and newly painted walls and new carpet in the bedrooms. And it has a pool. And the rent is cheap. Very very cheap. So I'm trying not to mind the roaches that appeared before we even moved our things in... (I fumigated day before yesterday, but I've seen 2 since then)... and I'm trying to ignore the constant noise that living in an apartment community brings.

My consolation prize is Buddy, a little mixed breed puppy that we found on Craigslist. He bears a passable resemblence to a dog I loved years ago, and he is keeping me busy teaching him to be housebroken. He's only 11 weeks old, so it hasn't happened quite yet. In the meantime, I'm keeping the bedroom doors shut and loving the tile floors for their easy cleanup.

Buddy makes me go outside, many times a day. He also showers me with love and kisses. He's good therapy.

I'm looking forward to summer, when I can lie by the pool and soak up the sun. I'm going to do quite a bit of that.

Right now, I just feel like I'm growing my skin back. It's been nearly a year since I broke, and I am still healing. I guess healing takes quite a while when you go as far away as I was.
