Long time no post, so I just figured I`d try and find something to talk about before I go to Tokyo tomorrow. It`s the big school trip and it`ll be with all my Japanese friends. Finally I`m hoping to take some good pictures of people. I get to ride the Shinkansen (bullet train) for the first time, see Mount Fuji, go skiing, and go to Disneyworld (

I kind of wish they didn't celebrate it here. What a pathetic holiday...But fairly enjoyable nonetheless.
I'm sorry for writing so sporadically (extremely so, i guess, as this is only the second time I've left a comment). My life is finally more or less back to normal..Back from Italy and Florida and wonder of wonders we didn't go ANYWHERE for the xmas holidays. Next thing to come is probably the England/France school trip over Easter -we're visiting Normandy and Vimy Ridge for the 90th anniversary of the monument...
Stratford checks are due in tomorrow. I guess you won't be coming next year. Sorry :P
Somehow I think you'll be able to justify it.
WHat else?
Course choices are due in next week, I'm having to choose what to take next year. Not an easy task. Steven Thompson's helping me, we're having a stay-after-school-hangout/decide-future night.
I'm already incredibly excited to meet you when you come back. I'm sure you'll be very different. Just don't go too Asian on me (or is that a rude, inconsiderate thing to say?).
Marco is now at Bell, which is a relief as for a time I was the only Bell person on the bus, Gribbon deciding to not live at home anymore (familial relations).
There's a fantastic snowstorm here tonight...slightly entertaining in a morbid way as millions of people are going out for a Valentine's dinner or for the Sens game.
Freakishly, we still have internet out here in Ashton.
Speaking of, do you see your parents at all during this time period?
I feel really uneducated about the whole exchange thing.
Anyway, this was intented to just be a short note to update you on la vie canadienne -though I'm sure you have plenty of people to do that for you. I hope you still use this, as if you do it's pretty much just you and Betty that do (as far as I know). Everyone's so goddamn facebook obsessed :S

p.s. I'm sure you've told me this before, but what's your actual e-mail? Livejournal...is strange. I prefer e-mails. They're closer to ACTUAL letters.
p.p.s. Happy St. Valentine's, in case no one there does celebrate it. It IS a pretty Christian celebration.

And the only reason I know this is because of exposure to those crazy Japanese dating games - specifically, Tokimeki Memorial from Konami. Damn, I always learn things from the strangest places.

I thought up the name in Grade 8. I thought it was so clever then, tsk tsk tsk. But I have always used it, and will probably keep on using it for a long time.
Anyways, they do celebrate Valentine`s Day here, but it`s a little different. Firstly, they sort of sliced it in half. On Valentine`s Day, girls give chocolates to the boys they like, and then on White Day the boys give marshmellows to the girls that gave them chocolates on Valentine`s Day. So... as you can see Japanese boys are fairly cowardly about these things. I didn`t get too many chocolates though *bursts into tears and spasms of misery*.
I wouldn`t be surprised if you didn`t even recognize me when I get back. Can`t really explain how in words, but I`ve changed a lot. Honestly, it will be pretty damn weird coming home.
I`m looking forward to getting to know everyone again though, although you guys will all be a year ahead of me, which is a drag.
By the way, my dad`s going to visit me at the end of March, which`ll be tons of fun since I get to play tour guide/interpreter for a week. My Japanese is about as good as my French (vocabulary isn`t as big, but my pronunciation and speed are better than my French I`d say), so I should manage that ok.
My mum and siblings aren`t going to visit, but we`re going to plan a big trip to Japan sometime after I get back so I can show them some of the stuff I`ve seen.
Sorry for the abominably late reply, I keep on forgetting to actually answer things rather than just read them and procrastinate. Hope things over there are well.
Nathan
