I called the Doctor's office yesterday afternoon to see about the results of the blood pressure monitoring.
I had wondered if they might call me...but no.
I told them who I was, that I'd worn the 24 hour monitor last week and asked if I could get the results by phone or if I needed to come in.
The front desk nurse put me on hold.
She came back five minutes later to ask: "Did you wear a BP monitor or a heart monitor?"
Cue my WTF-face. "It was a blood pressure monitor."
On hold again.
She came back a minute or two later. "Did the monitor you wore have chords going all over your body or..."
Cue another WTF-face. "It. Was. A. Blood. Pressure. Monitor."
On hold again after hearing murmurs of "O.K. You're the PA's patient..."
A few minutes later she comes back.
"Everything looks good."
O.K...
I said thanks and hung up.
Could have asked what the average BP reading was, but frankly...
You people do not inspire confidence.
I'm glad "everything looks good." (Though part of my brain questioned whether you did, in fact, have my file and not someone elses...thanks to your fumbling.)
The tone that came with that left me with a "We can't treat you for anything right now and thus we can't charge you for anything, so away with you." Though that may just be the Cynic talking.
I'm so looking for a new doctor.
Inept front office staff. And a PA who, I realized after thinking about it, never bothered introducing herself to me when I first saw her, she just came in and got right to it.
I don't mind getting right to it.
But I'd kind of like a name and a title.
I didn't even know whether the woman was a PA or a Doctor, until I realized her name wasn't on my prescriptions.
These people kind of make me miss the medical organization in the Air Force. (Aside from that six month stint where every AF doctor I saw kept telling me I had allergies.)
Have those in the medical field always been this inept?
Or do I just notice it more now that I'm older and wiser?
Or do I just have the worst luck when it comes to finding suitable medical groups to patronize?
