Today the 20th anniversary of the destruction of the space shuttle Challenger.
Surprisingly enough, I remember it. I was a little over 3 at the time. My mother and I were watching the launch live. I don't remember anything that the guy on TV said, but I remember my mother's reaction. It is my first memory of my mother being really upset about something. Just struck me as interesting, esp. for remembering it at such a young age.
I also remember being taken to the opening of the Christa McAuliffe planitarium in Concord a few years later, and connecting it with what happened when I was 3.

I wonder why that particular pair of memories are so potent and emotional to me...
