So a man at work asks if I know the name of the man who flew with wing and there was wax. He got too close to the sun.
I said: "Icarus?"
He said: yes. There is a new science book out and that's the title.
So I lead him over to Brian Greene's new book and he's the first person to not be repulsed by the fact that it is a board book in the children's department.
This got me thinking about a sculpture my best friend saw in the airport, suspended from the ceiling. She said it reminded her Icarus ... I am not sure that I'd want to be reminded of a man who fell out of the sky while waiting to get on a plane, so part of me hopes the statue is Daedalus-- he landed safely and the other half thinks maybe it is one of Da Vinci's dreams (kind of reminds me on one of his sketches). Either way I hope I see it tomorrow.
