Ponyo
Ponyo was utterly delightful. I don't think there is a better word. It was pretty and it made me laugh. True laughter. Not snide giggles or snickers. It was loosely based, as someone mention to me before going in, on The Little Mermaid. I was leery as that story ends bad. But not Ponyo. I keep coming back to delightful. My friend and I were the only people in the show, yet the rest of the theater was PACKED. That made me said. Reminder: If you like seeing Studio Ghibli films close to home -- you must pay to see them in a theater. The other part of me was glad we had the places to ourselves, because we could be unrestrained in our laughter and excitement. We clapped and cheered.
