Salazar enters, kicks a boot out of the way and sets the glass down on an ornate table.

"This way, it looks like the door lead to the front hall."

A snake hisses at Slytherin and he picks it up, caressing it gently.

"This is Riana. I am sorry my love, I was hopefully only gone for a short time?"

Draco carefully walked in after him, and eyed the snake some. Fascinating really.

The snake eyes Draco in return. Someone other than the woman is near her Master.

"This way, careful, we had an incident with some red caps."

Splotches of red dirty the silver carpet.

"Ah, here. He touches the doors of the library and they open before him.

This room is the most expansive of all the rooms in the house, including Salazar's room.

A dark-haired girl toddles out into the hallway.

"Back to your mother!" She toddles away squeeking.

"My cousin." He explains to Draco.

Draco was glancing around his surroundings. Ancient yes, but very impressive. He nodded to Salazar on the explanation, and followed. So this is what it used to be like for his kind."

"This library has nearly every book in existance, and scrolls of personal accounts, all I need to do is find the section-" he sweeps over to the north-eastern wall.

"on transfiguration." He taps a stool and it levitates. He steps onto it carefully and it raises to near the top.

"Here we are."

A smile curled on his face, "Excellent," he nodded.

Salazar levitates a basket and drops some books and scrolls into it.

"This one," he removes a book, "advises against transfiguration. It contains some fairly grotesque images."

He floats gently back down and the basket follows, landing in front of Draco.

"There you are. You should start with the books, some of them are in different languages, but most are in simple English. The scrolls are in my short-hand."

Draco got his wand to levitate the basket before him.

"I'll get right on this then, and get these back to you as soon as possible."

"Of course. You may sit anywhere, I do believe my cousins haven't mussed up all of the chairs."

Draco directed the basket over to lie down by a particular comfy chair after listening to that. He dismissed the spell, and then sat down to read.

Salazar reads carefully through the scrolls, occasionally making a note on parchment.

After a while, he blinks then looks at Draco carefully.

"Would you care for some parchment and a quill Draco? I find note-taking to be useful in cases like this."

Salazar floats some parchment and quills to Draco and goes back to his reading.

A while later, he comes upon something.

"Here it is! Remember what I mentioned about cold and warm blood? The man here claims that when he transformed into a lizard, his blood ran cold, and when he became a horse, his blood stayed the same. The lizard, even with its smaller size, was harder for him to transform into. He theorized that the colder blood was to blame."

Draco nodded, "That makes sense of course. I suppose that explains why I did have fur appearing at least. Since I was trying for something warm-blooded, not cold."

Salazar nods and turns back to the scribes. "This man was able to change himself into three animals by the end of his study."

Draco blinked, and paused mid-sentence on his latest notation on the parchment.

"Three? Successfully, and he maintained control over his mind for each?" He always been informed that only one form was possible. How much magic was lost over the centuries if this was an example of it?

Salazar doesn't look up, merely turns over to a fresh scroll. "That was his claim. I personally never believed him. He illustrated a horse, but told me to come again another time for a demonstration of the other two. When I went back, he had vacated the premise. His neighbors and friends could vouch for his claim, he said. They had ill words for him when I came upon their doorstep."
