“So...seeing as how they left like that, want some help?” The bassist asked trying to be polite and feeling as awkward as a newborn giraffe. With another light blush, Hitsugi ended up agreeing though he knew a polite host would decline the help. He, however, just wanted to be in the bassist’s company.
They made their way to the small kitchen with hands full of plates and cups. As Hitsugi set the plates down in the sink he turned and bumped into Ni~ya, who’d been walking a little too close to him. Hitsugi gasped as his body collided with the raven’s, hands coming up to rest on the bassist’s chest to maintain his balance. Hesitantly he peeked up at the raven, not knowing how the other would react, not wanting a repeat of what had happened after the interview a few days ago. What Ni~ya did next, Hitsugi had never even considered.
Ni~ya gazed intently down at Hitsugi, his eyes roaming all over the guitarist’s face, committing to memory the pierced lips, the graceful blush, the wide, innocent eyes, eyes that he could willingly drown in. Ni~ya slowly leaned over the shorter man, going slow so as not to startle him, as he set the plates down behind the redhead, who was pressed between the bassist and the sink. Ni~ya was slightly worried that what he was about to do was going to be the worst decision of his life, but then again, a decision is something that you think through, and Ni~ya had bypassed rational thought and was acting on pure instinct.
He wanted so bad to place his lips over the guitarist’s but he needed to know that this was what the redhead also wanted. His gaze held Hitsugi’s own, asking for something that might be too much, and knowing that nothing would ever be the same no matter what the guitarist did. Either way, there was no going back. As Hitsugi’s eyes fluttered shut, Ni~ya felt his heart stop. Then it kick started again, his chest complaining as his heart began to pound furiously, going a mile a minute as Hitsugi raised his chin, waiting patiently for Ni~ya’s kiss.
Never in his life had Ni~ya felt so happy. His heart was about to burst out of his chest, he was certain of it, as his lips made contact with Hitsugi’s. He should probably visit a cardiologist, he dimly thought, suddenly more aware of his heart than he had ever been. The muscle was doing weird things in his chest, first expanding painfully, then contracting like he had a collapsed lung as all breath left him when Hitsugi moaned as his tongue touched Ni~ya’s. His whole body was acting weird. He was feeling too hot, his taste buds exploding and he moaned at the taste of Hitsugi, the feel of the other’s tongue on his own, moving shyly and hesitantly, inexperienced. This only made the bassist feel more possessive. He forgot about caring if he came across as too forceful. With a half growl, his arms wrapped around the small guitarist’s waist, pulling him close as he stepped forward, pressing the redhead tight between him and the sink, trying to leave no room between them. A sound of desperation, half moan half groan, escaped him as he angled his head and claimed the redhead’s lips again and again, the kiss expressing all of his suppressed need.
Hitsugi was overwhelmed by the intensity of the kiss but tried to kiss back as well as he could, euphoric that he could finally have the raven as he wanted him-kissing him, returning his affections. Sounds were coming from him that he didn’t know he could make. He wrapped his arms around the tall bassist’s neck, rising to the balls of his feet, trying to bring himself closer to the other. He felt the hard edge of the sink digging into his spine and he made a sound of protest that did not go unheard by the raven. Without breaking the kiss, he stepped back, dragging the redhead with him.
Ni~ya tripped over his own feet and their lips disconnected as he yelped in surprise, Hitsugi falling with him. Hitsugi’s body was cushioned by Ni~ya’s as the raven made a loud thud when his back connected to the tiled floor. Groaning, the bassist looked up at the ceiling dazed as
Hitsugi’s head rested on his chest.
Hitsugi looked up to meet the bassist’s gaze. Their eyes locked. Two seconds passed and they were cackling maniacally. They burst out laughing, Ni~ya’s laughter sounding so much louder and weirder, yet somehow just right next to Hitsugi’s jubilant giggles. The laughter quieted after a while and they kept gazing at each other, smiling so hard their cheeks hurt. One of Hitsugi’s cats came over and began trying to climb over them, getting up on Hitsugi’s leg, pawing behind his knee, a weak spot of his. The redhead tried to shake the cat off, the tickling making his movements jerky as he laughed even harder. Ni~ya was entranced by the redhead on top of him and wanted nothing more than to kiss him again. Wet sandpaper scoured the side of his face and Ni~ya snapped out of it when an incessant mewling started right next to his ear. While he liked cats, that was annoying and he wasn’t in the most comfortable position either, though he would deal with it if it kept the guitarist just like he had him. Unfortunately, Hitsugi moved of his own accord, finally shaking the cat off. The back of his knee was one of his most ticklish areas and the cat unknowingly exploited it, and that had more than a few consequences.
Like now; now he had to use the bathroom.
He pushed up off Ni~ya, his knee between the bassist’s own, pressing against the half erection that had grown while kissing the redhead. Hitsugi’s eyes were wide, a shocked look freezing his face and body as his cheeks burned, red covering his face in embarrassment. The situation only got more awkward as the redhead continue to press against the bassist’s hard on to get up, making the raven groan involuntarily. Hitsugi apologized as he tried to get his footing, his knee pressing against the seam of the bassist’s pants, causing him to hiss in pleasure as the redhead pushed against him, actually moving him up with each awkard, jerky movement.
“Ugh.” Ni~ya grunted. “Hitsugi, stop that.” The redhead immediately froze, wide eyes hesitantly looking up at the bassist.
“If you continue moving like that, something…is going to happen.” The redhead looked away, his face flaming, immediately understanding what the raven was saying. Instead, he stopped moving completely, letting the taller man get up as Hitsugi sat on his hunches, trying to make the ground swallow him. The greatest moment of his life immediately turned into the most embarrassing.
The awkwardness was almost like a physical thing. When Ni~ya was finally on his feet, Hitsugi got up and went directly to the bathroom, ignoring the bassist, his face flaming. Ni~ya felt like a complete idiot. And uncool. But he’d been getting aroused, way too fast to be normal, just from the guitarist pressing against him. He had to stop Hitsugi before he embarrassed them both or did something they’d regret later. He wanted Hitsugi so badly, but on the guitarist’s terms. He doubted jumping the small man would get the man to love him back. He paced in the decent sized kitchen for what seemed like forever. He checked his watch. One of Hitsugi’s cats came up to him, twining around his legs. He began growing anxious, not knowing what was holding Hitsugi. Nothing could possibly last this long. His anxiety grew and he realized what was going on. Hitsugi was trying to avoid him. He felt his heart break as he realized the rejection, but he had come so far, he wasn’t going to give up so easily.
After waiting another 5 minutes, Ni~ya couldn’t take it anymore. He made his way to the bathroom and faced the door, hand fisted ready to knock but he froze. No sound was coming from beyond the door. Then he heard it. Metallic clinking. It was very faint and light. And he could visualize Hitsugi playing with his bracelet. The gorgeous silver one he almost never took off. A light smile appeared on Ni~ya’s face. Hitsugi did that when he was nervous. It made him feel relieved that he wasn’t the only one who felt so anxious. [hitsugi’s side of the story. He knew that making his guest wait was rude but Hitsugi couldn’t make himself leave the bathroom. He sat on his immaculate bathroom floor near the sink. He didn’t have to avoid Ni~ya for long-the bassist came looking for him.]
“Hitsugi?” Ni~ya asked, hesitating, not wanting to be too loud in case he disrupted the guitarist. For some reason he felt that if he talked any louder, whatever was happening between them would shatter. The silence was far from comfortable, but to Ni~ya it was all he had, and he was going to work with what he had. The bassist’s voice was hesitant across the door and the tiny redhead felt sorry for putting them both through further awkwardness. Yet Hitsugi didn’t answer.
“Why are you avoiding me?” Ni~ya asked after a long time of silence on both their parts.
Hitsugi didn’t have an answer.
Again.
Hitsugi didn’t have an answer for that either. He wanted to say something. He wanted to apologize for being so rude as manners instilled in him at such a young age dictated, but for the life of him his voice wouldn’t leave him.
“It’s okay, Hitsugi.” Ni~ya all but whispered, wanting to reassure the redhead, knowing how confusing and frustrating this was. Ni~ya’s voice sounded far away even though Hitsugi could see his shadow beneath the door frame.
“I was trying to avoid you too.” Ni~ya confessed in a low voice after another long period of silence.
“Why?” Hitsugi’s voice came muffled through the door. He sounded hurt and uncertain. Frail and shy, like a small child. Never before had Ni~ya wanted to hold him more than he wanted to now. He wanted to reassure him, to hold him tight and tell him everything was alright. [Hitsugi finally managed to say, his own voice surprising him.] But Ni~ya couldn’t very well blurt out everything that’s been happening to him. He just got the guitarist, he wasn’t about to scare him away by professing his love to the redhead.
“Why?” Hitsugi asked again, this time his voice taking on a desperation Ni~ya had never heard before. Hitsugi needed to know so badly, his heart pounded fiercely in his chest and he wanted to know, needed to know, that this wasn’t just a one time thing; that Ni~ya didn’t kiss him with so much passion and …love… just because of some flimsy desire.
“I…you know I’ve never been good with emotions, Hitsugi.” He sighed, head resting against the door, his heart tightening painfully as he knew he was going to have to say it. But the words themselves seemed like knives, a physical pain. And it wasn’t only pride that stopped him. His past reared its ugly head, transporting him to a time where he was a close friend of rejection.
He didn’t want that to happen with the Hitsugi.
It would break him.
But the tearful voice of the redhead reached him as the word ‘please’ was whispered with such desperation that that broke his heart. He couldn’t do this to the both of them.
“I love you.” Ni~ya finally managed to get out, almost fighting himself, his past fighting with the present self.
He couldn’t hear anything from the other side of the door. He couldn’t take the silence. It was going to drive him mad.
“I know it’s a lot to take in. And it’s okay, if you don’t feel the same way. Just…please give me a chance to show you that what I mean is true. I…” Ni~ya didn’t have any more words. Didn’t know what to say to make this feeling go away. To make the rejection hurt less. He didn’t know what to say to have Hitsugi’s love. After a few moments he hung his head in defeat and began to turn away. He was a few steps from the door when it was suddenly yanked open. He turned around in surprise. A distraught Hitsugi stared back at him with wide eyes.
“Please tell me you’re not lying. You would be a cruel person if you lied to me like that. Please tell me it’s true.” Tears ran tracks down the guitarist’s face and Ni~ya felt so bad for putting them there, but his heart was soaring. In two steps he covered the space between himself and Hitsugi and wrapped his arms around the guitarist, holding him tightly. He felt light, weightless, like a feather, and he repeated the words that had made him free and it didn’t hurt this time.
“I love you.”
With a smile, he captured Hitsugi’s lips in his own, trying to express all his love in that single act.
“I love you too.” Hitsugi said after pulling back, his eyes still closed blissfully as he lay his head on Ni~ya’s shoulder.
And unlike a certain drummer, Ni~ya had found his happily ever after, the one he loved, loved him back.
