when you want it the most...
today marked the beginning of my third week at work! last week was crazy busy- they threw stuff at me to see if i would sink or swim, and i think, for the most part, i swam (i may have swallowed some water at first, but i got the hang of it!)!! i was supposed to rotate through the senior loans division and work with a different team each week, but the group i worked with last week asked howard to steal me for another three days, so i'll be with them until wednesday! i guess that's a good sign- at least they weren't trying to get rid of me early!!! so far i've just been working on credit proposals for new issues (we'll get an 80-100 page offering memorandum from the bank syndiacting the loan, and i'm responsible for reading through it and analyzing/modeling the financials (historicals and projected), listening in on the conference call, and then writing a report on the industry, the strengths and weaknesses of the deal, and my recommendation whether to buy and hold or buy and flip or decline). so far i've done presentations on an energy company, us airways, a bpo outsourcer, and now i'm working on a biofuels corporation and a furniture designer. the first one i did totally sucked booty, but i've been steadily improving and it is soooo interesting learning about all of the different industries! i'm also working on an overview of the ethanol industry so we can gain a better understanding of the potential risks of investing in biofuels.
friday night the interns all went out- we were originally going to go downtown, but we ended up getting drinks and dessert at the cheesecake factory. i seriously love hanging out with these kids- they are soooo much fun!! saturday i drove to wilmette to visit my aunt/uncle/cousins- my oldest cousin, jack, had a baseball game that we went and watched (the first round of playoffs). it was super cold (in the 50's!!!), and super fun and his team played really well, but the other team squeezed out an extra run in the last inning and they lost. afterwards, we went out for dinner and then we went to see over the hedge! it was a really cute movie, but the best part was the fact that every song was by ben folds!!!! i downloaded them as soon as i got home!!!
sunday was spent catching up with lindskar (finally!!!!!!) and researching ethanol (oh boy!)!!! there's a lot coming for the rest of the week: tomorrow is the summer analyst speaker series, wednesday i'm going downtown to attend a bank meeting for a new issue, thursday credit suisse is taking the senior loans group to a roof-top event at the cubs game (seriously, how sweet is that? not to mention we get to leave work at 11am!!!! i can't wait!!!), and friday the summer analysts are attending a quantitative panel and then going out for a night of debauchery at a location that is yet to be determined!!!
time is going by far too quickly, and unfortunately, that includes my evenings...off to write up these deals!!!!
