No yoku no maseron!!
The other day I saw this crazy comedy called The Shonen Merikensack (which means Brass Knuckle Boys) starring Aoi Miyazaki.
Here's the synopsis stolen from yesasia:
"A step away from losing her job, record company employee Kanna (Miyazaki Aoi) comes across an awesome punk rock band called Shonen Merikensack on the Internet, and sets out to sign them. With her job on the line, she discovers too late that the video she saw is actually an old clip from the 80s, and the members - bassist Akio (Sato Koichi), guitarist Haruo (Kimura Yuichi), drummer Young (Miyake Hiroki), and vocalist Jimmy (Taguchi Tomorow) - are now all down-on-luck middle-aged fogies. As buzz for the mystery band grows, Kanna's record company, still in the dark about the truth, decide to launch a concert tour for Shonen Merikensack, and they want Kanna to be the band's manager!"
So it's basically a road trip movie+mockumentary of how the band (who did not age very well and haven't performed in 25 years) get back together, go on the tour (with Kanna having to babysit them) and settle some unresolved issues. It reminds me of Detroit Metal City (go see it NOW if you haven't!). Well maybe just the loud music part because while DMC had some cute moments, the band members is SMS are really loud, rude and obnoxious. I didn't really expect much but some parts had me laughing so hard xD

Now...
The biggest selling star in Kanna's record company is this guy called TELYA. I'm pretty sure they're parodying Gackt here. In this one PV he was singing "Andromeda andromeda". I almost choked..
Aoi-chan sure took a lot of abuse in this film..
And when she loses it..
I really liked it but still for me DMC > SMS..
I also saw District 9 without knowing much about it last week. It was unexpectedly awesome and gross. Lol. Definitely one of the better and original alien movies to come out in a while.
