J-Melo - Miyavi & Yasuji Ohagi (2008.05.04)

Apr 23, 2009 00:36

Ah~ I'm really slow and didn't know about the sudden marriage of melody. and Miyavi at all until reading it on a f-list's entry recently *shokku* It brings me to this one J-Melo episode that I have lying around in my hd. Was this their first ever meeting? It was actually one of my favourite episodes (of the few I got hold of) of J-Melo and had live music..

It's the first ever Club J-Melo and the guests are Miyavi and and Yasuji Ohagi. First, an energetic performance of "Selfish Love" and "Neo Visualizm" by Miyavi and crew followed by Yasuji Ohagi (who's a classical guitarist) who makes sweet love to his guitar on stage plays a beautiful (and flawless!) rendition of "El Dia Que Me Quieras" and "Londonderry Air". During the interview that follows they suddenly decide to have an impromptu guitar session together. It is the coolest thing ever because clearly their music are on completely different spectrum and yet both being very talented guitarists, the unrehearsed classical + electric guitar session turned out amazing.

Part 1
Part 2
Part 3

J-Melo is a show on NHK WORLD that is completely in English so you don't need subtitles.

Random notes..
-melody. x Miyavi shocked me more than the Ayaka x Mizushima news. I guess I totally didn't expect these two to get together. On the surface and also musically, they seem like they're from two different worlds.

-It was really saddening to hear about melody.'s retirement (did this have something to do with it?) earlier but it would be extremely cool to hear them do a collaboration together someday.

-Miyavi's birthday is September 14.. which is the same as Takahashi Ai-chan xD

-Miyavi had a tap dancer and a painter (who plays the umbrella (yeah) after that) on stage during his performance. Lol, you can't get more random than that. The audience seem to be largely female ^^;;

-Aww...

..who would've thunk it? >_<

P/s: Pheneo, if you're reading this.. お前どう思う、こりゃ。。?何でお前じゃないのかよ?! ( ゚ Д゚)
