New York, Je T'aime..

It looks like there will be a (sort of) sequel of the fabulous anthology movie Paris, Je T'aime. This time it will be set in New York and appropriately named New York, I Love You. The cast list alone looks UNBELIEVABLE! Kevin Bacon, Rachel Bilson, Orlando Bloom, Christina Ricci, Hayden Christensen, Shu Qi, Shia LaBeouf, Natalie Portman, Maggie Q (just to name a few) all in one movie? The list of directors is impressive too..

There's an OKAY trailer but the movie won't be out til just before Valentine's Day..

I'm excited to find Shunji Iwai's name among the directors. I'm a HUGE fan of this extremely talented auteur. There's a unique style that can only be found in a Shunji Iwai movie.. in this simple yet beautiful way he captures people, nature, colour, emotions, everyday life and even sound onto film.

One of the first Japanese movies I have ever seen was Love Letter. The stunning snowy scenes from Love Letter stayed with me for a long time after that. And then amongst others so did scenes of falling cherry blossoms from April Story, the wide green field from All About Lily Chou-Chou and ballet scene from Hana & Alice. His movies are just that haunting and powerful..

So in conclusion.. watch his movies if you haven't already! Not to say that his other films aren't great. It's just that the ones I mentioned made the most impression on me. Oh well, I leave you with cutscenes from All About Lily Chou-Chou..
