I watched Dark Knight and.. being a long time Batman fan.. was totally blown away. It's by far the darkest and complex comic book-movie adaptation ever! I'm guessing that it won't be a hit with those who prefer non-stop action movies.. because as much as it had its fare share of action scenes, Dark Knight is more about the dialogues, battle of wits and exploration of the light and dark side of human nature.
I was very impressed..
Heath Ledger's take on the Joker was simply BREATHTAKING (in some sort of twisted way)! He just takes over every time he appears on screen. I've never seen a villain so sick, demented, psychotic and yet brilliant and ironically funny all at the same time. Maybe the rumour that Heath became obsessed with the character before his death was indeed true. He is almost unrecognizable in this movie.
It's very sad that this would be the last we'd see of this very talented actor. I almost wish that it was all a big, cruel joke.. that he'd suddenly show up again one day laughing.. telling everyone he just did it to promote the movie.
And I hope Christopher Nolan won't stop making these gritty and more realistic Batman movies.. Maybe he'll even bring Bane into the picture one day (and nothing like that stupid oaf in Batman & Robin)..
