Anyways, yes, I'm back, hurrah! I'm kind of not in the mood to be back in New York, though. I've been home for about 20 hours, most of which have been spent sleeping, and I'm already bored with it here. I want to go someplace more interesting. Like back to England. Anyways, now I have to update you on everything that I've done in the past three weeks. I'll put it under a cut, since my normal one-day updates are usually about two centuries long. And apologies to my friendlies if I fail to read everyone's journal from this whole time. I don't really feel like it at the moment.
I departed from JFK at 9.30 pm EST on Friday, 8/7, and arrived at Heathrow at 9.30 am London time, 8/8. The view from the window of the plane was one of the most beautiful, spectacular things I've ever seen. The city is always beautiful, but especially at night, from very high up in the air, with all the lights. It was enchanting. Eventually we got up to where all you could see were clouds, which I always think are a bit amazing from the plane. All cotton-candy like, and poofy and soft and lovely. But then it got dark and I couldn't even really see the clouds, so I turned on Eternal Sunshine, which is one of the most brilliant movies I've ever seen and I was so excited that it was one of my options to watch on the plane, but I couldn't get the volume to go up high enough that I could really hear it, and I was pretty tired, so I decided to screw the movie and make an attempt to sleep. Eventuially, I did, and when I woke up, it was just starting to get the teeniest bit light, and I looked out the window and saw land below, but I couldn't figure out what land it could possibly be, since we were too many hours away to be anywhere near the UK, but too far from home to still be in North America. And parts of the land appeared to be covered in snow, in August. And the map TV thing said that we were above the Atlantic Ocean. Eventually, I figured out that we were just very, very high up, and it wasn't land, it was just lots of thick clouds. Which was really cool. Then the sun started to rise over the horizon, which was just completely indescribably stunning. After a while, we started our descent down to Heathrow, and when we got beneath the clouds, I could see the farmlands, which are so peaceful and pretty from so high up. And then we landed, and they drove the plane around for a bit, and we all got off, and I got through customs, without even realizing that I was going through customs until the very end, and got my bags, and met Maggie at arrivals.
And that was the plane trip.
I'll write the rest later, I've got to go out and get prezzies and food to send to Holly and Cam, who are still and camp, and who I promised a package.
