Feeling better about myself and B&N
So lately I had felt inept at work, kind of like feelings of stupidity and sloth-ness n all... Well the other day there was a meeting at the store: the regional manager (Bob) and district manager (Angela) were both in, so things were kinda hectic (had to keep up a good impression). Our store manager Linn and the higher up managers Tom and Hilary were there also so it was really important.
My thoughts on it all were "Keep out of their way... do my job"
So upon doing my job I happened to be passing the entourage and this is what happened:
Linn: Mike have we recived the "You on a diet books yet?"
Before Mike can answer...
Me: Theres a display up by Customer service and Norman is taking a stack and displaying them in front of the store right now
Linn: Thanks Chris
But before I can leave...
Bob: So you're Chris, nice to meet you, Im Bob :) *shakes my hand*
Me: Hi Bob, nice to meet you :)
Bob: So tell me what you're doing now?
At this time Im getting reallly nervous (yet keeping a compsosed face)
Me: Well I was about to do some bargain recovery, but I wanted to grab the bargain planogram so there's no discrepancies.
Bob: That's good, so tell me how long you've been working here?
Me: Uhm, around the start of August, just about (Mind you Im still realllly nervous)
Bob: And what would you say you like most about working here?
Me: The other employees of course ^__^
Bob: He he he I thought you would have said the employee discount.
Me: Uh, well thats really great too *__*
Bob: Im just messing with ya, I'll let you get back to work
Me: Ok (as I run off)
I got back to customer service then, man oh man I was.. yet again nervous (why did I have to pull a Christopher and open my mouth?)
Well anyway later on Linn came to Customer service and what happened was:
Linn: Chris I couldn't have done better myself even if I scripted it, you did great :D
Me: Uhm... really? *__*
Linn: Yeah, Bob was really impressed and the meeting went really well.
Me: He he thanks, it wasnt much really...
She proceeded to talk about it with the other MODs and such. And she was still talking about it today, and Hilary mentioned me in the mornign meeting about what happened... so I guess all in all... my work esteem is upped a bit... and I feel better about my working presence at Barnes and Noble. SO go me ^__^
