How the memories all just came back to him, and they were so visceral, so real, so intense.
And when dream!Jared didn't want Jensen to find him, I was really afraid that it was because Jared had like, killed himself or something because he couldn't handle being without Jensen. But then...he had a Facebook, and I was slightly relieved.
But then not so much because they still weren't together. ;)
I also really loved that Jared was the one Sam had been trying to hook him up with all along. It was a cute touch.
All in all, this was fabulous. I'm so glad you're not a lurker anymore! lol.
Thanks so much. I love hearing where you thought the story might be going. I'm delighted that it managed to surprise! The potential suicide idea did not enter my mind. Although I can see the possibility given the way they broke up rather dramatically. My main goal was to capture that sense of teenage desperation, where it's all black and white and shades of gray don't exist. And, of course, this ultimately colored Jensen's view of the world even as an adult.
Thanks so much! I'm delighted you enjoyed it. True confession -- I never saw The Kid either :) But I liked the idea of someone seeing a kid. In the movie Bruce Willis saw himself as a youngster. And then I think he was able to go back in time and 'fix' something.
I feel like I kept the spirit of the film although not the actual storyline.
My inspiration was the SPN episode where Dean sees young Sam in Heaven. That and Life on Mars.
I was cringing when it came to the part of Jared dying!!! I never thought it would come to that!! However, the twist was excellent. :)
Great story, from quite a good inspiration. I think The Kid was a pretty decent movie myself, in that it didn't suck that bad, and was delighted to see this come out from it!
Thanks so much for reading and commenting. I'm thrilled you enjoyed it. I have to admit I have not yet seen the film, The Kid. It has been recommended and I will. In a way it freed me to interpret based just on the description.
I'm glad you liked the twist and that you didn't guess it too early on.
This was such a fantastic story! I've never seen The Kid either, but I think it's wonderful how you kept the spirit of it alive but made this so totally your own story with unique twists and character developments.
It reminded me a bit of Life on Mars, with the twist of him being in an accident and then finding out that in the end that Jensen was really the one in the coma. But what made this great for me is the slow revelation of their history and development of their relationship, and how that effected Jensen's life and behaviors.
Thanks so much. I'm a huge Life on Mars fan and this is a total homage to the brilliance of that plot. I changed it a bunch in that Jensen absolutely has no suspicion even of being the one in a coma. I'm glad that the flashbacks worked for you. They are my personal favorite part of the story.

Never seen The Kid, so wasn't sure what to expect. When Jared died, I was sobbing like a bitch.
