The Big Television Experiment.

Four months ago we got rid of satellite TV.  Partially it was because I was watching too much TV, and partially to save money.

I thought that there would be a period of time where I'd miss watching TV, as an addict would miss taking drugs.  So, we put some measures in place in case I needed a fix.  We got a Netflix subscription… we figured out how we could buy our favorite shows on the internet… I took out a pile of books from the library.

It was interesting to me that after the satellite TV was gone; I found that I was no longer interested in it AT ALL.  Not really any twinges as to wishing it was there, so that I could watch something.  I don’t even really want to watch the Netflix films, so we might get rid of that subscription.

So at night now, I enjoy reading, and spending time with my husband, or hanging out with friends.  I’m taking a Web Development class at Cleary, and am planning on signing up for Yoga for Monday nights.  I hope also sign up for Pilates, and would like to get an exercise plan together so that I can be healthier.

The most interesting aspect of my experiment though, is that in spite of me being on my back with back pain for the past three weeks eating nothing but junky comfort foods( I’m looking at you Ben and Jerry!!!), I’m still down 10lbs since I’ve given up satellite TV.  Yeah me!
