Car shopping

Yep. We're going to need a new one (or a new used one). I think we might be able to make do with my car for a little while, but my husband's car? Nope. We'd have to move both front seats all the way forward in order to get two baby carseats in the back. And even if that works, fitting a double stroller into the back might be problematic. ACK! On that car dealership. That is absolutely the wrong way to sell a car, that's called bait and switch and it's a hard sell tactic practiced by dealerships you should never deal with.

And I say that as the daughter and sister of car salespeople.

I, too, have a minivan. It was unavoidable with four kids. I wanted to resist but could not.

Good things: sliding doors as mentioned.
Lots of trunk space. Babies come with STUFF.
The mirror inside the car that allows you to see the babies in their car seats.
Minivans usually have big engines. I sometimes hit 80 mph without even trying on the highway, then I back down to 70 mph. I just don't notice sometimes because it rides smooth and, hey, big engine.
When your kids have friends, there's room for them in the car. Also, room for family members who come visit.

Bad things:
Turning radius is not usually very good.
It's, you know, a minivan.

When we found out I was pregnant w/twins and needed a car, I called my brother. A week later he shows up outside my door with a minivan on a flatbed. He'd driven three hours to bring it to us. We signed papers, and it was ours. Of course, we didn't get to pick out color or model at all (Ford Windstar at the time) but he gave us the best price possible and we knew it was mechanically sound. It lasted 160,000 miles.
then the transmission blew.
