one of our major crisp manufacturers are
asking people to choose which of their specialist new flavours of crisp should be kept in production.
They asked people to send in recommendations for new flavours, selected and started to produce six, but with the aim of only choosing one of these six to carry forward permanently - production will cease on the others. And they're asking the public to vote as to which flavour should be kept.
In the interests of science, on our holiday me and
annelaure bought and shared one packet of each of them, for a taste test session. These are our results (in the order we tried them) :
Cajun Squirrel : "Not too bad at all, bbqish, like a salty McDonalds BBQ Sauce." - Annelaure. "A bit dull." - me.
Builders Breakfast : Eggy smell, definite bacon/eggs taste. We both liked them.
Onion Bhaji : I thought they were quite dull, but Annelaure liked both the taste and flavour. Quite oniony taste, otherwise nothing really else to say.
Crispy Duck & Hoisin : "That Stinks, but tastes a bit like normal crisps, a bit dull." - Annelaure. I liked them, quite honey-ish, rich taste.
Chilli & Chocolate : Smells more chocolately than it tastes, quite spicy to eat. Most powerful overall aftertaste. "Even my dog doesn't like them!" - Annelaure.
Fish & Chips : Does exactly what it says on the packet. Strong smell of battered fish on opening. You can taste the vinegar and mild batter undertones.
Overall though I think we both agreed that the best was the Builders Breakfast flavour - eggs, bacon, tomato, and buttered toast. Others may think differently ... but we had to *try* them all before we could come to that conclusion!
