Got to see AWE! Woot!

I loved it. Sure, Curse of the Black Pearl will always be my favorite, but At World's End was special to me.

Spoilers behind the cut.

The opening scene was really morbid to me. It was the most disturbing one in the whole film. The boy being hung with all the others was so sad. Was it Groves calling the new laws? It seems so messed up seeing him there. The good commodore was being conspicuously absent and kept in the dark from all of this, though.
It was an amazing moment when they all sang though. I got goose bumps. I really hope it’s in the soundtrack because it was chilling.

I know a lot of people say that the plot was too complicated, but a lot of my favorite movies have plots that are extremely complicated. I know I’ll notice more the second time I see it.

Chow Yung Fat’s part wasn’t as good as I’d hoped it would be, but that’s not a big deal to me.

I know a lot of people think that the many Jack’s were comic relief and useless to the plot, but I think hat they are very important. Even though it was funny to the audience for Jack it was torture.

The first thing I noticed was the calm way he’s killing (in his head) all these different parts of his personality. The first one gets shot for trying to eat the peanut. However, I found the next death a little eerie.

A more easy going part of him tells him to give him a second chance on tying the knots, so the real Jack stabs him to death saying, “It’s that kind of attitude that got us here in the first place.”

Is anyone else strongly reminded of Barbossa in COTBP before the attack on the Interceptor when Jack said, “Let me scurry over to the Interceptor and negotiate the return of your medallion. Aye? What say you to that?”

Barbossa said, “Jack, that’s exactly the attitude that lost you the Pearl. People are easier to search when their dead.”

I may be over analyzing this, but that was the first thing I thought of when I heard that line. He was blaming his good side that believes in second chances. It’s also disturbing that there’s enough self hate to kill his hallucinations. It creeped me out more than the stab. Then there was an insane personality laughing in the back. That was kind of funny, though. Did anyone else notice that he shaped the sash over his clothes like a diaper?

I'm guessing that most of the comedic bits with the other Jack's were Johnny's idea. I like Jack's discussion's with the other Jack's later on. It gives the audiance a chance to know what he's planning.

I loved Jack’s entrance back to the others. It was so much like the first film, even the music was right. The last official scene (not the after the credits one) also used similar music and had the old ending line. So much love for those decisions. I’m taking it as cannon that he finds the Fountain of Youth, gets the Pearl back because he has the map and they need it, and stays cute forever btw.

I liked Will and Elizabeth more in this one. Will was smarter, and Elizabeth backed off of Jack and had more guts. I liked the breath of death moment by the way. Lolz

Norrington, now this is a touchy subject. I’m sad to see him go. Jack and Norrington were my favorite characters. This movie proved what I believed. Norrington believed he was doing the honorable thing. He was left in the dark about the Admiral. He finally kissed the girl which is good. I know that Bill wasn’t in his right mind when he killed him, but I’m still pissed at him. He killed Jack’s our Norry.

I have to admit that I loved his last moment. “Do you fear death?” *stabs Davy Jones and dies*

Wow, James could you get any more brave? *cries a little*

I wasn’t super pleased about Will being the next Davy Jones, but it didn’t really upset me either.

I though Barbossa was awesome in this. The scene when everyone was drawing their guns on each other cracked me up because you can tell that Jack’s still more insane than usual. The uneasy laughter, and then he’s ready to pull his guns out again right after Barbossa, and he keeps switching who he’s pointing at by who is talking.

Questions:

The, “Four of you tried to kill me, one of you succeeded,” line is making me think. When/how did Tia Dalma/Calypso try to kill Jack?

There’s apparently some obscure hints.

First of all she tells him “you seemed to enjoy it at the time” and he tells her she’s in when he’s saying who’s allowed on.

She seems more fond of Jack than the other pirates. Maybe this is because of his love of freedom and the sea, and how he hasn’t tried to abuse his power with her.

Then there is the talk between Davy Jones and her. He says she didn’t wait for him. Does this mean she just was at a different place or was unfaithful as well?

Am I the only one that thinks that somehow she almost killed Jack by having sex with him? She is a sea goddess/woman after all.

Next Question:

Teague, who is Jack’s dad and Keith Richards plays very well seems to be very old. I didn’t hear part of his scene very well because of talking people. Did they say how long ago he got his position? I think they mentioned that he is extremely old. How did he get his immortality?

Also does anyone else think that Jack’s dad is part of the reason why Jack knew about the cursed Aztec gold. His dad seems to be Spanish. I think that Jack’s mom used to be an Aztec. I’m not sure here, but the idea makes sense. It would explain why he knew about the gold and how to find it. Also, I think the writers would have liked to add in Johnny’s Native American heritage a bit.

Last Random Question:

Someone I talked to has a POTC 3 young adult crossword thing. The answer to one that has Davy Jones talking to Jack says “You’re the reason I am not free.”

What do you think this means. Is it supporting the Jack/Calypso or something else entirely?

I’m not going to ask about the unmentioned mark left on Beckett by Jack that’s physical/emotional. We already know about Jack’s mark. (his P brand). I heard that the mark on the Admiral is mentioned in a deleted scene. It better be on the DVD.

Please give me your opinions.
