It's intriguing that while the military have been extremely reluctant to remove the human from the decision making chain at any point, the financial world has blithely moved ahead. Huge amounts of money funding a kind of AI arms race.
Im sure the reality is nowhere as interesting, but the fantasist in me can't help but imagine a bunch of dumb AI's fighting with each other as the world economy burns, as the technicians try to remember where they put the off switch...
