I suppose it's time for my quarterly LJ update. Most folks who read this probably read my "real" blog or keep up with me on facebook so you probably know all this already, but I'm going to throw it out there anyway.
Dad started having major problems the week of Christmas from the cancer and was pretty much bed-bound from that point on. We were back and forth between home and work and church and Cullman every weekend which was a bit crazy and stressful. Dad died on Feb. 12th. It was sad but it was also a relief. I appreciate all the love and support I have gotten from everyone and I really am doing fine right now (even though I know there are some folks who don't believe me!)
Jeff is still job hunting, and I know we're both getting a little discouraged, but his unemployment keeps getting extended so that is good. He finally gets to teach again this semester too! He is teaching a working drawings class which is a new one for him, but he has really enjoyed it. We're talking about the possibility of his going back to school after I finish my residency if he still can't find something.
Speaking of the residency, it's going really well. We have now started our second academic unit, and I'm feeling pretty good about it. I'm feeling pretty on top of things and not nearly as deep in the weeds as I did last unit. I'm also more interested in the areas we're learning about and digging the readings. We're also doing some neat "out of class" stuff, which is always fun. I'm a fan of field trips!
I'm looking forward to the cruise. REALLY looking forward to the cruise. Like it's still almost two months away and I've started packing already. Don't judge, it keeps me motivated.
I'm still seeing my therapist about once a week and it's still going really well. I'm so very very glad this is a part of my life right now!
The house is good. Not a whole lot to report there. I finally got a toaster oven so when I go to the grocery store tomorrow I'm getting some pop-tarts. I have been craving a brown sugar and cinnamon pop tart for over a year now! It's the little things in life that make me happy.
The dogs are good. Nothing really to report on them.
So consider yourself updated!
