Why? Well, 'cause there was an exchange between the pirate first mate an' Redd. She defected, swore loyalty t'Redd, but had t'hand over a red box before he swooped in an' carted her an' the rest of the crew there away. That little red box seemed pretty damn important to her--an' to the crew, too.

What would I like t'know? All you know.

Shame I wasn't down there.

Either way, after the last pirate raid, there was something going around. Everyone was sick, irritable, it was bad. I was wandering around and in the temple on deck 13 there was a red box. Whatever it is, it's powerful. It was the cause of everything, we had a hell of a time closing it. Don't know what's in it. The two I was with looked in it and let out this horrifying scream...They don't remember at all. The Heron came and took it afterward.

Now I wonder how many the Captain has in his possession.

Oh it was one of the pirates, definitely. He was there standing guard.

We got thanks from the crew and the heron for closing it and handing it over. They know what they are. And from what you described, I wouldn't be surprised if they at some point were in possession of some.
