It's hard to believe, given my rants of late... but I actually had a pretty good weekend! Friday was Wench Destress Night with my mocha sister. It's amazing how just 16 hours closeted away with good company can chip away at so much mundane and spiritual buildup. Sort of like Windex for the spirit - cuts right through the grease. The only minor glitch is that the liquor store I chose didn't carry Lapis Anejo ::sniff, sniff:: so we made due with Herradura Anejo instead. ;-) Yet, another tequila convert won over by shooting the good stuff. Heh. We ordered room service - decadent! I enjoyed a really good bowl of tortilla soup and the crab cake salad. Mmmm, crab cakes on spring greens in a lemon vinaigrette - light and so tasty! Watched "Oz" after dinner. (
meatpie, were you and
katiebare running around in circles after that one!?!? Aaaaaugh!)
Spent a few short minutes in the really hot hot tub, chatted about everything and nothing and finally turned in. My dear sister slept an actual 8 hours for the first time in years... made me happy to see her rested and rejuvenated. Didn't realize how much I needed it either.
Took off at check out time and ran errands on the way home. Since my health plan includes eating berries 3 times a week (good for sweet fix, vitamin C and soluble fibre), stopped by Central Market for good produce. Picked up sushi too, as I still had one more fish requirement on the way to that new CD! What a wondrous place - and easy for me to access, which means I'll be more apt to eat well. Yay! Talked with
buffalobills on the phone, then headed home to watch all the TV I'd taped last week. Puttered a bit around the house and spent some quiet time. Double yay!
Sunday I hooked up with
jertzie to watch the "Paradise Lost" films at Betwixt and Between. Was really glad for the company, and for the great conversation about such an important topic. The
West Memphis 3 got shafted in all the worst ways. By the time all was said and done I think
jertzie and I were ready to start a movement! Revolution calling and all that. Heh.
Dropped him off and stuck around for BB73's wondrous dinner. It was fabboo to spend time with her and
kangitanka3. More silliness, some faire resminiscing & lots of social commentary - and how 'bout that DMan?!? Go KT3! Woot! Come to find out it's a very small world as DMan knows a couple guys I work with! Watched His Izzardness and headed home.
All in all, really enjoyable. Yeah, the natal day nattering is annoying but it will pass. As long as I'm bitching about it, I'm safe. When I get quiet, that's dangerous. ::wicked grin::
