Things are busy busy 'round these parts! Trekked to East Texas to see
arbiter_of_Cool's folks two weekends ago, preceded by MC Arson's celebration of his 30th natal day. As Arbiter pointed out, it's pretty hard to feel sorry for him; he was the youngest one there! Family time was good, too. Met his sister who was both a hoot and a holler-though her eldest son took great pleasure in his domination of an Uno game (yes, I got trounced).
Unfortunately, upon our return I fell victim to some cold/allergy thing. Still sniffling, though I got some Flonase to top off my regular Zyrtec. Bah. I mean, it's not like I lost an eye or have cancer or anything... but I say "Bah" nonetheless. (I either need to get well, or get sick enough where I sleep for a couple days and get over it. This in between crap is where I get uncharacteristically whiney and unbearable.)
Spent last weekend celebrating the nearing end of
twilightfenix's single days.
redwing planned a perfectly suited event, including a picnic, Gameworks and cocktails, and drunken hotel silliness. Played
Apples to Apples, which is entertaining in and of itself. Add ridiculous amounts of Wild Turkey Honey and you will laugh until your face hurts (trust me on this- at least it's one of the more fun ways to get sore). If you ever hear of a punk band called the Flirtatious Amputations... well, my bad.
Enjoyed a farewell luncheon at Benihana the following day, then headed back to spend time with Arbiter. He was playing
"Guillotine" with
sashastarchaser and
antmanx. I crashed a few rounds. Silliness ensued.
After dinner, I opted to use a soon-to-expire Borders coupon to start the Dead in Dallas vampire series. I think I recall someone on my flist (
middnightclear?) saying they were fun. Then I righted a travesty. You see, my beloved Arbiter had never partaken of gelato joy. With Paciugo so nearby, how could I let him continue, ungelatoed, for any longer? Yum.
Tonight we begin the home remodeling adventure and take the first steps towards making the House of Doors my future home. We're meeting with
kathyc514 to pick out new tile (and, possibly, paint). I am excited! The prospect of sorting through and packing all my crap is a bit daunting, but at least I can begin moving over non-essential items soon. That "bits and pieces" approach may well save my sanity come late-August.
So... I may not be as social as I'd like this summer, but it's not extended post-Scar hibernation. I'm trying to sort all my stuff-which currently fills a small two-bedroom house-to I can sell what I don't need/don't like and fit my world into the House of Doors, endeavoring not piss off its current inhabitants (or force
arbiter_of_cool to dump me for the sheer inanity of it all).
Big love to one and all. North Texans, don't forget your water wings (or a spare pair of oars).
