My Tribe
hartsbayne had this really cool concept some time back and I haven't been able to stop it rattling 'round my pea brain... seems I'm all about borrowing these days! But I'm not sorry, especially when the ideas are good and involve sharing the good stuff.
Spend some sistah time today. Jacque, Jacky, Shanna and I went to see "Signs" and grab an early dinner. Got me to thinking, as I often do, how truly fortunate I am to have such wild, wonderful women in my life. I never share it as much as I think or feel it and that's a crime. Tribe is everything. Ohana.
Here's a little about My Tribe:
1. Jacque - Pure Intent. She generates the kind of strength this world isn't smart enough to value, off-the-radar kind of good. She's the reason there's anything good in me to share.
2. Jacky - Mirror. My right arm. My ego. My inner fire. My sister.
3. Catt - Real. The most talented, versatile woman I've ever met. And the reality of her is far better than any spin-based image.
4. Angie - Tenacious. She pushes me to be more than I am, in spite of myself (often risking my ire for my own good)!
5. Shanna - Luminous. Her outer beauty pales when compared with what is inside.
6. Mike - Mercurial. Watching his "becoming" is alternately inspiring and maddening. Wouldn't trade it for the world.
7. Christine - Brilliant. Her vulnerability is they key to her considerable inner strength.
8. Patty - Unexpected. By all rights, she should be cookie cutter perfect and someone I can't stand. I've been blessed with so many sisters but when it comes down to it, the sister I grew up with is the one I would choose all over again.
9. Ken - Ultimate. He's the perfect guy. For anything.
10. Chole - Rock Steady. She's the most f*cked up stable person I've ever met. And I'd have her at my back any time.
11. Arianna - Paradox. The lightest dark side of anyone I know. It's delightful!
12. Marie - Gracious. My Garnet Sistah even has grace in her wonderful wickedness.
13. David - Deliberate. He works so hard at everything, but most importantly at being better than he was the day before.
14. James - Cool. 'Nuff said.
15. Richard - Obscure. And I mean that in a good way. The way his mind works is sometimes frustrating, often surprising and always interesting. There's nothing that he doesn't know something about.
15. JD - Trust. It hasn't been easy between us but I've learned more from him than any other man, save my dad.
16. Sheryl - Alive. Ghurrl radiates vitality even on her dark days, always keepin' it real.
17. Rob - Judgement. As with people and his unerring sense of taste, his is impeccable.
None of them are cookie cutter. They all have strong hearts, stronger minds and the strongest spirits around. They inspire me, they know me... and love me anyway.
And this is just the start. Thanks to LJ, my VirtualTribe is growing closer too. Can't wait for the face time to bring it full circle. (Redwing, Trot, Vail, Kangi Tanka, PhoenixGoddess, bookwench, UncleSIKO, KookyKrys, koyote19... the beat goes on!)
