Had a better time than I expected Saturday at faire. Hadn't planned on going out in garb but
theotherevilred really needed a Wenches Day Out so I acquiesced. Sooooo glad we coerced
cluegirl to join us. That really made the day complete.
I always have mixed emotions when I go there. (Glad I had good company as a buffer.) I see lots of friends (
snow_lynx!
Trotfox!
twilightfenix!
Nerilka!) and I remember the good things about being there, most of which I carried away with me and integrated into my daily life. But I do miss the sword fighting and dance... and although those things are still available to me somewhat, I'm not part of faire and don't want to do them with an eye towards being there again. That's not my path. Not to mention some of the not so good memories. The environment still encourages that flavor of behavior in a lot of ways and I am well clear of it. Still, managed to avoid the Psychotic Capricorn Quartet and Nursie Susan knew better than to direct her toxcitiy directly at me. Yes, she's awful to me and vile and bitter to people I love more than my own soul... I've got some nerve cutting her out of my life and sticking to it when she's proven incapable of change beyond a shadow of a doubt. Harumph.
Spent the rest of the weekend with Ravenous. What a breath of fresh air, as he always is. Slept in until NOON on Sunday (geez, sleep dep much?) and the rambled to Chez Alexander for much debauchery. El Fenix for margaritas-er, ummm, dinner-first (scrummy new shrimp enchiladas!) then WE GOT BOMBED! I think we did three or four apiece. Oh me liver! Listened to music, cigars on the patio... much silly. Got home at 3am, woke up at 11am and returned by 2pm for a great cookout. Caribbean Punch this time. Happy fruity rum goodness. What I love best about Ravenous (and
olannon and RobMan too) is I get to hang out like one of the guys... but they never forget I'm a girl.
Did miss seeing Junior... he opted to spend some dad time Saturday (some health concerns there as mitigating factors) so they did the male bonding thing and fished. Besides, he's local. That will have to take a back seat to those leaving (or about to leave) for Northern climes.
Managed to really bruise and maybe break a toe. BEFORE the Irish Car Bombs, thank you. I drank for medicinal purposes. Finding shoes to match the corporate drag will be a challenge as I now have a purple vienna sausage where my 4th toe used to be. So much for workouts this week...
I only work three days this week. Got the sinking feeling it's gonna feel like five... and being tired before the A-Kon shoot even starts is a baaaaaaad idea. Blarg. Off to the races.
