Christ compels you... to help me bake a potato

Dec 12, 2007 22:35

Here is a stupid bachelor question... but how in the sweet fuck do you bake a potato? I've been trying for over an hour, and all i've accomplished is slightly warming a potato and drying it out to where it is starting to feel like a brick.

So much for dinner.

So I take it trying to eat a potato after cooking it for 15 minutes is probably not the best idea.

Baking isn't worth the wait. I poke holes in mine and microwave them for 5-10 minutes. They end up tasting exactly like a potato.

You know, I was about to make a snarky comment about how crispy potato skins are important, but I was then dumb founded by the fact that you're one of my friends... and I have no clue how we both know sandmansdreams

I throw away my crispy potato skins. I like the soft ones that blend in with the rest of the potato.

I don't know him... he just appeared on my friends list one day, and I said, "Well hey! Who couldn't use more friends?"

Hi sandmansdreams!

it takes some serious patience and love to take the time to properly season and wrap your potato, then wait for its insides to soften up enough for your fork to break the skin comfortably. indeed, oven-baked potatoes are classy and well worth the wait, but sometimes you just need a potato that's easy and ready to go. sure, you could microwave the bitch, wrapped in celophane, but then you still have to wait 20 minutes and you may burn your fingers (or get radiation poisoning since we both know you will watch it slowly rotating in the microwave for the entirety of its nukedom ( ... )

I was so disillusioned and distraught by my potato experiment I was only able to find solace in a bag of doritos and a 5th of Vodka.

My night ending with me impaling my potato brick with a knife, then trying to eat it like a giant turkey leg. It ended in tragedy, as the potato was so hard my teeth started to hurt.

Lol, you sound like me. I can cook about 5 things well and just recently learned how to bake a potato nicely. A couple of years ago I didn't know what spinach looked like in its raw form.(What are these leaves doing in my sandwich? This is SPINACH? Why isn't it all creamed and wrinkly like at Boston Market?)
